His research fields are Obesity and Metabolic syndrome associated with liver and gastrointestinal diseases (Fatty Liver, liver cirrhosis, hepatocellular carcinoma and gallstone disease).
Dr. Xingshun Qi was born in July 1984 in Shenyang, China. He obtained his medical doctoral degree at the Fourth Military Medical University in Xi’an, China. He completed his post-doctoral fellowship at the General Hospital of Shenyang Military Area in Shenyang, China. Now, he is working at the Department of Gastroenterology of the General Hospital of Shenyang Military Area as a vice chief physician. He has been an Associate Professor of General Surgery in the Department of Advanced Medical and Surgical Sciences at the University of Campania "Luigi Vanvitelli" in U.O.C. of General, Minimally Invasive, Oncological and Obesity Surgery. From October 2001 to 2006, he served as Assistant at the Coloproctology Unit of Villa Flaminia, Rome. Not only is he a passionate advocate for Atlantic Canadians with liver disease, he’s also a chairman and chief executive officer of the Canadian Liver Foundation. Throughout his career, he’s received numerous undergraduate education, postgraduate education and research awards. Dr. Peltekian’s research focuses is on the impact of fatty liver and hepatitis C viral infection in Atlantic Canada. Rozzano,Dr. Giulia Roda is employed at Humanitas Research Hospital, Milan, Italy, since 2018, as Senior Consultant and Adjunct Professor in the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Center. Previously, Dr. Giulia held the position of Faculty Instructor at the University of Bologna, Division of Gastroenterology, Italy. From 2010 to 2016, she trained and worked as Faculty Instructor in the Department of Medicine, Division of Gastroenterology, at the Mount Sinai Feinstein IBD Center of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York. Giulia completed a PhD from Science of Alimentation, Doctorate, University of Veterinary, Bologna, Italy, in 2013. Dr. Teschke’s scientific and clinical interest in hepatotoxicity started as resident at the Department of Pathology, University of Marburg/Germany, with following focus on alcoholic liver disease and biochemical studies as resident at the Bronx VA Hospital/Mount Sinai Hospital in New York with Professor Charles S. Lieber during 1972-1975. More specifically, here he solubilized the hepatic microsomal ethanol oxidizing system and isolated it from the other alcohol metabolizing enzymes alcohol dehydrogenase and catalase by DEAE column chromatography. Other studies included the area of cytochrome P450 and various microsomal enzymes.
Dr. Zhiping Yang studied for a bachelor degree at the Second Military Medical University, then obtained a PhD at the Fourth Military Medical University in 2014. From 2014 to 2016, he completed the postdoctoral fellowship training at Tsinghua University and Chinese Academy of Engineering. Daniel Zamora-Valdés, MD is a Transplant Surgeon at Hospital Ángeles Acoxpa. He specializes in kidney, pancreas, and liver transplantation as well as HPB surgery. He received his MD with honors from the University of Veracruz and completed a General Surgery Residency and HPB Surgery Fellowship at the National Institute of Medical Sciences and Nutrition in Mexico City. He is an ASTS-certified Abdominal Transplant Surgeon from Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota and Living Donor Liver and Autoislet Transplantation Fellowship at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. He is founding member of the Mexican Chapter of the AHPBA and Level 2 member of the National System of Researchers in Mexico and received the 2019 ASTS Foundation Vanguard Prize.
Dr. Osama M. Ahmed was granted Ph.D. (in 2000) in Physiology from Faculty of Science, Cairo University, Egypt. Dr. Ahmed is a professor of physiology at Faculty of Science, Beni-Suef University Beni-Suef, Egypt. He has authored/co-authored more than 100 publications, and has also written two book chapters. He is an editorial board member in 32 international journals. He was awarded the State Incentive Prize (2014), Beni-Suef University Excellence Prize (2014) and the state excellence honor of the first class (2017) in Egypt. He is principal investigator and co-principal investigator in many research projects.
Dr. Fuchs is a professor of medicine at Hunter Holmes McGuire VA Medical Center. Andrea Mancuso has been working as a Consultant Medical Doctor in Internal Medicine at ARNAS Civico, Palermo, the biggest Hospital in south Italy, since 2013. Previously, he was a Consultant Medical Doctor at the Department for Hepatology and Gastroenterology at the Niguarda Ca’ Granda Hospital (Milan, Italy) since 2010. Before that, he had gained years of working experiences in other important Hospitals all over Italy (V Cervello Hospital Palermo, Bufalini Hospital Cesena, others). He is a recognized expert in the management of liver diseases, expecially vascular liver diseases, liver transplantation, HCC, hepatological diseases in thalassemia and iron overload, and, moreover, gastrointestinal endoscopy, liver ultrasound, IBD.
Magdalini Matziari has joined the Chemistry department at Xi'an-Jiaotong Liverpool University in 2012 as a lecturer. After having obtained a PhD degree in 2001 at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens she worked there as a researcher and teaching assistant in the laboratory of organic chemistry. In 2006 she received the national award in Material Science of Unesco-L'Oréal, for "In Women in Science" concentrating excellence program. Magdalini works in several areas of synthetic organic chemistry with a strong emphasis on drug-design and medicinal chemistry. Currently the main research interests include the development of small molecular weight inhibitors towards HIV and Hepatitis C virus enzymes, drug delivery systems and studies on organocatalysis.
Dr. Piero is the President of European Society of Clinical Investigation (ESCI) Mainly his research is in basic sciences and translational Clinical Medicine. He is the Professor of Internal Medicine at the University of Bari, Italy. In 2013, he obtained the Laurea H. Causa at the Medical Schools “C. Davila”, Bucharest and Cluj-Napoca, Romania. In 2015, hebecame Full Professor of Internal Medicine at the University of Bari Medical School. Dr. Ridruejo currently works as the Chief of the Hepatology Section from the Department of Medicine at Center for Medical Education and Clinical Research, Norberto Quirno CEMIC in Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires. He received his medical degree from Salvador University and completed his Internal Medicine residency at Center for Medical Education and Clinical Research, Norberto Quirno CEMIC and in University of Buenos Aires (UBA). He subsequently completed his training in Hepatology Baylor College of Medicine and in the Eugene B. Casey Hepatitis and AIDS Diagnostic Laboratory in Houston, Texas under the direction of H. Blaine Hollinger.. His areas of interest are viral hepatitis, hepatocarcinoma, and the development of hepatocarcinogenesis and its prevention.
Dr. Levi Sandri GB graduated in Medicine and Surgery at “La Sapienza” University of Rome (Italy) with the highest grade level. He performed his PhD in “Advanced techniques in Surgery” at “La Sapienza” University of Rome (Italy). Dr. Levi Sandri has obtained international grant for his research on liver transplantation and national awards for his research in surgery focused on Minimally Invasive Liver Surgery. He is Editor-in-Chief of the journal “Laparoscopic Surgery”.
Dr. Wang has an active research interest in the molecular and genetic mechanisms of cholesterol homeostasis and the pathophysiology of cholesterol-related diseases. The long-term objectives of his research are (i) to identify gallstone (LITH) genes and investigate their genotypes and phenotypes in mice and humans, as well as elucidate the molecular, cellular, genetic and physical-chemical mechanisms of cholesterol gallstone disease at a fundamental level; (ii) to study molecular, cellular, genetic and physical-chemical factors that determine intestinal absorption efficiency of cholesterol and fatty acids; and (iii) to investigate the pathophysiology of the metabolic syndrome with a special focus on the relationship between insulin resistance and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease.
Ming-Lung Yu graduated from the College of Medicine, Kaohsiung Medical University in 1989. He completed his clinical training in the Department of Internal Medicine and Hepatology at the Kaohsiung Medical University Hospital in 1994. Professor Yu has published almost 200 articles in prestigious journals, including those on the molecular biology, viral kinetics, hepatocarcinogenesis and the optimization of antiviral treatment. He is the Academic Editor of PLoS ONE, Honorary Editors-in-Chief of World J Gastroenterol, Guest Editor of Hepatitis Research Treatment and Current Hepatitis Reports, member of Editorial Board of The Open Infectious Diseases J, and Advisory Editorial Board of The Korean J Hepatol.
Dr. Nancy E Aguilar-Olivos is the Director of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Department and Professor at Medica Sur Hospital in Mexico City. She graduated from Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. She obtained her Master of Science degree with distinction in 2015. She is a member of the National System of Researchers (SNI) of Mexico and has authored 19 research papers, 7 book chapters and 1 guideline paper. She has presented her research at the United European Gastroenterology Week, the Digestive Disease Week and The Liver Meeting. In 2016, she received the Marsha Dreyer Award during the Digestive Disease Week. Her major research interests are in the areas of colorectal cancer screening and hepatobiliar diseases.
Dr. Andrés F. Carrión serves as an Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine in the Division of Digestive Health and Liver Diseases at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. He is also the program director of the transplant hepatology fellowship at Jackson Memorial Hospital – University of Miami. Dr. Carrión’s clinical activities and research focus on chronic liver diseases and therapeutic endoscopy. Dr. Carrión has over 60 publications in peer-reviewed journals and renowned textbooks in gastroenterology and hepatology, and has consistently presented his work at international meetings including AASLD, DDW, EASL, and ACG.
Dr. Jiang Chen obtained his medical doctoral degree at the China Medical University in Shenyang, China. He completed his post-doctoral fellowship at the General Hospital of North theater Command in Shenyang, China. Now, he is working at the Department of Gastroenterology of the General Hospital of North theater Command as a vice chief physician. His major research interests are the basic researches related to immune diagnosis and treatment of digestive system malignant tumor, especially pancreatic cancer. The basic and clinical researches of autologous bone marrow stem cell transplantation in the treatment of nuclear radiation-induced enteropathy and end-stage liver disease.
Tao Han received his Master (2010) and Ph.D. (2013) degrees at the People's Liberation Army Second Military Medical University, Oncology, in China under the direction of Academician Hongyang Wang. He has more than 10 years of comprehensive diagnosis and treatment experience for liver, gallbladder, pancreatic tumors, and lung cancer. He joined the Oncology Department of the All-Army Cancer Center, Northern Theater General Hospital as an attending physician (China) in 2013-2020. At present, he has moved to the Department of Medical Oncology, the First Affiliated Hospital of China Medical University. He has published more than 100 papers about Oncology and other subjects.
Dr. Kuo obtained his PhD degree from the Tunghai University in 2008. He is a full assistant investigator/professor at the Department of Research, Taipei Tzu Chi Hospital, Buddhist Tzu Chi Medical Foundation. His study is focused on cancer biology, liver fibrosis, and traditional medicine. In the past five years, he has published more than 30 articles, including Cancer Research.
After graduating in Medicine, he concluded the Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology medical residencies at São Paulo State University (Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho), where he also concluded his Doctorate in Internal Medicine Pathophysiology. He received the title of Gastroenterology specialist from the Brazilian Federation of Gastroenterology and is a member of the Brazilian Society of Hepatology. He is professor of Clinical Gastroenterology in the same University, as the supervisor of the Gastroenterology Medical Residency. He is a board member of the Postgraduate course named “Internal Medicine Pathophysiology” and takes part of the CPFig Research Group - Clinical Research Group on Liver Pathobiology, in the Directory of CNPq Brazil Research Groups.
Dr. Xiao-Dong Shao graduated in Medicine from Fourth Military Medical University, China (1995) and was granted Ph.D. in Medicine from FMMU (2005). Dr. Shao is a professor in the Department of Gastroenterology at the General Hospital of Northern Theater Command, China. His field of expertise is gastrointestinal endoscopy.
