Biography of Caroline Gaucher
After an academic formation in biochemistry, Dr Caroline GAUCHER defended her PhD in bioengineering-biomaterials at the Faculty of Medicine, Université de Lorraine in 2007. After a price for her PhD work, she moved on for a 3-years post-doctoral position at the Université de Rennes and at the University of Burgundy working on National and European projects.
In 2010, she became associate professor in Pharmacology at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Université de Lorraine. She is the head of the cell and molecular pharmacology axis of the CITHEFOR lab. Her pluridisciplinary researches are focused on cardiovascular pharmacology of oxidative stress, redox and nitric oxide signaling. Dr Caroline GAUCHER is also the president of the Research Committee of the Faculty of Pharmacy and the Assistant Director of the Scientific Council “Biology, Medicine, Health” of Université de Lorraine.

Chukwunonso E.C.C. Ejike, born in Nigeria in 1980, studied all through at the University of Nigeria, and earned a PhD in Biochemistry in 2010. Chukwunonso had his postdoctoral training at the University of Guelph, Canada. In 2015, and 2018 he was a Visiting Fellow at the Universität des Saarlandes, Saarbrucken, Germany, sponsored by TWAS/DFG and DAAD, respectively. He has won several grants to support his research and has published scores of papers in scientific journals. Chukwunonso won the AE-FUNAI Researcher of the year 2017 prize. He was promoted to the rank of full Professor of Medical Biochemistry in 2018.

Biography of J.J. Mackrill
Dr. John Mackrill gained his PhD from the National Institute for Medical Research (Medical Research Council), Mill Hill, London and subsequently worked as a postdoctoral scientist in the Department of Cell Physiology and Pharmacology, University of Leicester, UK. In 1997 he joined the Department of Biochemistry, University College Cork, Ireland and was subsequently awarded a Heath Research Board of Ireland Career Development Fellowship. He then obtained tenure in the Department of Physiology, at the same institution and was promoted to senior lecturer here in 2017. Throughout this time, Dr. Mackrill has maintained an interest in calcium signal transduction and more recently has become interested in how dietary components, such as oxysterols and selenium, influence signalling mechanisms in eukaryotic cells.

Pr Frederic BATTEUX, MD, PharmD, PhD, is board certified in clinical pathology and is

He has a fulltime position as professor in Immunology at Paris Descartes Medical School

Biography of Armen Trchounian
Prof. Armen Trchounian, Ph.D., D.Sc., is Head & Professor at the Department of Biochemistry, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Faculty of Biology, at Yerevan State University (YSU) in Armenia. He is also Professor at the Department of Medical Biochemistry and Biotechnology, Russian-Armenian (Slavonic) University in Yerevan, and Professor at the Department of Biotechnology and Microbiology. He graduated from YSU (1978), was awarded with PhD (1982) and DSc (1990) from The USSR Supreme Certifying Commission. He was Professor at the Department of Biophysics, YSU (1993-2011).
He was Fulbright Scholar at the University of Chicago, USA (1991-1992); Invited Professor at Chiba University, Japan (1994-1995; 1998); Visiting Fellows at the University of Reading, UK (1998-1999, 2001), and University of Virginia, Charlottesville, USA (1999-2000). He shortly visited Martin-Luther University of Halle-Wittenberg, Halle, Germany, by DAAD fellowships (2013, 2016).
He has published >300 review and original papers in leading international peer-reviewed journals, >25 books and text-books and attended >80 international conferences giving lectures and oral presentations. He is an Editor of 3 peer-reviewed international journals (Elsevier, Frontiers) and Editorial member of numerous international journals.
He is a Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia; laureate of Armenian President’s Prize for Development in Natural Sciences, other national and international prizes and awards.

A. Suha Yalcin is a Professor of Biochemistry at Marmara University School of Medicine,
Istanbul, Turkey. He received BS in Chemistry degree from Bogazici University (1978) and
worked at the Department of Biochemistry, Istanbul Faculty of Medicine, Istanbul University
(1979-1985) where he received his Specialist in Clinical Biochemistry (1982) as well as PhD in
Biochemistry (1985) degrees. Since 1985, he has been working at Department of Biochemistry,
Marmara University School of Medicine as Assistant (1985-1986), Associate (1986-1993) and
Full (1993-) Professor of Biochemistry. His research activities focus on oxidative stress
diagnostics, dietary antioxidants as well as protective effects of functional foods/nutraceuticals
on chronic diseases and cancer. He has published more than 120 papers in reputed journals, has
received more than 2,400 citations (h-index: 28) and has been serving as section editor of
Turkish Journal of Biochemistry.

Biography of E. N. da Silva Júnior
Eufrânio N. da Silva Júnior received his degree in Chemistry from the Catholic University of Brasília
(UCB). In 2007, he completed his MSc at the Fluminense Federal University (UFF), and in 2009, he
concluded his PhD at the University of Brasilia (UnB). In 2010, he became Professor of Organic Chemistry
at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG). He is a member of the Brazilian Chemical Society and
the Royal Society of Chemistry. He has received the RSC/BMOS Young Investigator Award (2015), Jones
Travelling Fellowship (2016) and Capes/Humboldt Research Fellowship for experienced researchers
(2018). His research interests are focused on click chemistry, C-H activation reactions, asymmetric
organocatalysis, nanocatalysis, mechanistic investigations, and the synthesis of heterocyclic and
naphthoquinoidal bioactive compounds. Currently, he is also interested in obtaining fluorescent

Associate Professor Dr Mohd Fadzelly Abu Bakar graduated with a BSc and MSc (Nutritional
Sciences) from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Malaysia and a PhD (Biomedical Sciences) from The
University of Nottingham, UK. His interest on medicinal plants (herbs and fruits) grew in Sabah, and
he researched on the potential health benefits of endemic plants. Back in Johor, Malaysia Dr Mohd
Fadzelly ventured into documenting traditional knowledge of the Jakun as medicinal plants (diseases
such as tuberculosis, cancer, diabetes and gout) as well as for healthcare including as food sources.
His research interest include studying on the efficacy and mechanism-of-action of medicinal plants
that has been claimed traditionally to treat diseases.

Oguz Bayraktar (MSc, Ph.D.) received his MSc. and Ph.D. degrees in Chemical Engineering
from West Virginia University, USA. He worked as a faculty member in İzmir Institute of
Technology between 2001-2014. Now, he has been working as a professor at the Department of
Chemical Engineering in Ege University. He published more than 40 publications, and 45
conference proceedings. He has more than 600 citations and his h-index is 15. His research
interests include: biopolymers, bioactivities of natural compounds derived from plants, drug
delivery systems, and nanotechnology.

Dr. Serhii Holota received his PhD degree in field Pharmaceutical
Chemistry and Pharmacognosy at the Department of Pharmaceutical,

University, Ukraine. After PhD he took part in multidisciplinary research

Biography of K. Mosa
Dr. Kareem A. Mosa is an assistant professor at the Department of Applied Biology,
College of Science, University of Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, and the Department of
Biotechnology, Al-Azhar University, Egypt. Previously, he was a postdoctoral fellow at
the Department of Plant Science, McGill University, Canada. He was graduated from Al-
