Dr. Nikolaos Labrou received his BSc degree in Chemistry from the University of Patras, Greece (1987-1991) and his PhD in Enzyme Biotechnology from the Agricultural University of Athens (1992-1996). He has conducted postdoctoral research, as Marie Curie fellow, in Leeds UK (1996-1998) and then at Agricultural University of Athens (1998-2001). Dr Labrou is currently full Professor with tenure at the Department of Biotechnology at the Agricultural University of Athens. Dr. Labrou has authored more than 115 peer-reviewed articles in leading international journals and 26 book chapters in international publications. His research covers many areas of biotechnology including enzyme and protein engineering, cell culture technologies, catalomics analysis, protein downstream processing as well as characterization of therapeutic enzymes, proteins and other biomolecules.




Dr. Gokhale obtained a doctorate (Ph.D.) in Biochemistry from the University of Pune, Pune, India. Dr. Gokhale also holds a Master’s Degree in Chemistry from the University of Pune. Currently Dr. Gokhale is Emeritus Scientist and also an Emeritus Professor in AcSIR, CSIR-National Chemical laboratory, Pune, India. He has published more than 70 scientific publications and is a named inventor of 6 issued U.S patents. Dr. Gokhale is currently the Associate Editor of Recent Patents on Biotechnology journal published by Bentham Science Publishers.




Dr. Roy obtained her Ph.D. in Applied Biochemistry from the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi under the mentorship of Prof. M. N. Gupta. After working at the University of Bonn as a Humboldt research fellow, she joined the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research S.A.S. Nagar where she is currently working as an Associate Professor. Dr. Roy is an author of more than a hundred scientific publications. Her areas of research interest include stability of stabilization of proteins using small molecules and nucleic acid aptamers.







Dr. M. Z. Abdin received his BSc degree in Botany from the AMU, Aligarh, India in 1982 and his PhD inPlant Physiology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology from the IARI, New Delhi in 1991.Dr Abdin is currently Head of Academic administration of the Department engaged in teaching and research at PostGraduate level in the area of Biotechnology that includes animal biotechnology, plant biotechnology, molecular oncology, molecular virology, pharmaceutical biotechnology and environmental biotechnology. Dr. Abdin has authored more is an author of more than a hundred scientific publications.




Dr. Rotimi Aluko is a Professor in the Department of Human Nutritional Sciences at the University
of
Manitoba, Winnipeg, Canada. He obtained a PhD Food Science degree in 1996 from the University of
Guelph, Ontario, Canada. His work focuses on the structure-function properties of food proteins
and
peptides. He has over 140 journal article publications in addition to 4 patents. Dr. Aluko has
at various
times served as the National President of the Canadian Institute of Food Science and Technology,
Chair
of the Nutraceuticals and Functional Foods Division of the Institute of Food Technologists as
well as
Chair of the Protein and Co-Products Division of the American Oil Chemists’ Society. He
currently
serves as the Editor-in-Chief for the



Ph.D. Degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry at Gujarat University, Ahmedabad, India (1984). Postdoctoral research in Medicinal Chemistry at Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio, U.S.A. (1984-1987). He has been involved in research projects as a manager or a participant in several projects, as well in international collaborations (Algeria, Belgium, Lebanon, Mexico, Romania, Spain, Tunisia). He has published more than 260 international papers including 17 papers in press. He has also published 12 chapter books and has about 110 international and 20 national oral communications.

Dr Paramita Bhattacharjee Chakraborti is presently serving as an Associate Professor in the Department of Food Technology and Biochemical Engineering, Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India. She has completed her M.Tech and Ph.D from the Department of Food and Fermentation Technology, Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT, former UDCT), University of Mumbai,India and has been Executive Scientist of Biocon Ltd, Bangalore, India for two years. She is an active researcher in green technologies of extraction and development of nutraceuticals. She has 76 research papers in national and international journals, 9 full length papers in conference proceedings, 40 oral presentations in conferences including 7 in international forums, 16 book chapters and one Indian patent.




Carla C. C. R. de Carvalho finished her Ph.D. in Biotechnology at the Universidade Técnica de Lisboa, Portugal, in 2003. Since then she has studied methods to prevent and destroy biofilms and has studied the importance of bacterial cellular membranes and adaptation mechanisms in biomedical, biotransformation and bioremediation systems. She has published more than 60 peer review scientific papers. Currently, she is a Principal Investigator at Instituto Superior Técnico where she is developing bioprocesses and studying the role of lipids in bacterial survival under stressful conditions.




Pau Ferrer is Associate Professor in Biotechnology at the Department of Chemical, Biological and Environmental Engineering of the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), Catalonia, Spain. He has a BSc in Biology from the University of Barcelona (1988) and a PhD in Biotechnology from The University of Reading, U.K. (1995). He did a post doc and visiting professor stay at the University of Chile (1995- 1996). In 1997, Pau Ferrer was appointed Associate Researcher at the Department of Chemical Engineering of the UAB, where he started his career as group leader, setting up the Metabolic Engineering Laboratory within the Group of Bioprocess Engineering and Applied Biocatalysis.




Prof. Dr. Galdino obtained a doctorate (Ph.D.) in molecular biology from the University of Brasilia, Brazil. Dr. Galdino also holds a Master in Biochemistry from the Federal University of Ceara, Brazil. Actually, Dr. Galdino is fellow productivity in technological development and innovative extrension – DT2- CNPq. During their studies, Dr. Galdino dedicate efforts in the field of cloning and expression of heterologous genes in microorganisms (bacteria and yeasts) in order to obtain innovative products and process. He has scientific publications and is a named inventor of 11 issued BR patents.




Anna GALLONE is associate professor of Applied Biology at Department of Basic Medical Sciences, Neurosciences and Sense Organs, School of Medicine, University of Bari “Aldo Moro” (Italy), since october 2010. Associate Professor in Faculty of Medicine, University of Foggia (Italy) from 2006 to 2010. She had a permanent researcher position in “Applied Biology”, Medicine Faculty, University of Foggia from 2002 to 2006. During different periods of the years 2001 and 2002, she was host in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, School of Medicine, University of Murcia (Spain), to perform collaborative work on the characterization of extracutaneous melanogenic systems.




Dr. Younes Ghasemi is currently a Vice-Chancellor for Research and Technology, Shiraz University of Medical Sciences, Shiraz, Iran. His research interests are Recombinant Proteins, Silico Biotechnology, Nanobiotechnology, Bioprocess and Fermentation, Microalgal Biotechnology and Probiotics. Dr. Ghasemi has around 251 articles and 3 books publications to his credit.




Prof. Guisan obtained a doctorate (Ph.D.) in Chemistry from the Autonomous University of Madrid (Spain). He is now full Professor at the Institute of Catalysis. CSIC. Spain. His work is mainly related to the ENGINEERING OF ENZYME BIOCATALYSTS. He is author of 390 scientific publications. He has a H index of 59 (SCOPUS) and 69 (GOOGLE SCHOLAR). He is inventor of more than 40 patens and has supervised more than 40 Ph.D. Thesis. He has edited 2 editions of the book ENZYME AND CELL IMMOBILIZATION from John Wiley and Sons. He is editor of a number of international journals.







Prof. Eduardo Jacob-Lopes is currently associate professor at the Department of Food Technology and Science, Federal University of Santa Maria. He has more than 15 years of teaching and research experience. He is a technical and scientific consultant of several companies, agencies and scientific journals. He has 500 publications/communications which include 8 books, 28 book chapters, 80 original research papers, 380 research communications in international and national conferences and has registered 15 patents. His research interest includes bioprocess engineering with emphasis on microalgal biotechnology and environmental biotechnology



Emilio Jirillo is full professor of Immunology at University of Bari Medical School (Bari, Italy) since 1986.His current fields of interest are: mucosal immunity, microbial immunity and immunonutrition.Especially in this last field, he has recently published in vitro and in vivo studies on the anti inflammatory effects of polyphenols . He is author of more than 560 papers(326 scientific papers are listed in PUBMED), even including books and chapters of books. He is editor-in-chief- of Clinical Immunology Endocrine Metabolic Drugs and Endocrine Metabolic Immune Disorders-Drug Targets.








Alexander Klibanov received his M.S. in Chemistry and Ph.D. in Chemical Enzymology both from Moscow University in Russia. Following his immigration to the United States in 1977, he spent 1.5 years as a postdoctoral associate in the Department of Chemistry at the University of California, San Diego, before joining the faculty at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) where he is currently an Endowed-Chaired Professor of Chemistry and Bioengineering. His current research interests include medicinal chemistry, new antimicrobial materials; enzyme chemistry and biotechnology; and pharmaceutical formulations. He has authored over 310 scientific papers and 21 issued U.S. patents (plus many pending), has given over 370 invited presentations, including many named lectures all over the world, and is a member of 12 journal editorial boards. Dr. Klibanov has received numerous prestigious professional awards, including the Leo Friend Award, the Ipatieff Prize, the Marvin J. Johnson Award, and the Arthur C. Cope Scholar Award, all from the American Chemical Society, as well as the International Enzyme Engineering Prize.



Dr. Krishna Mohan Poluri is currently working as an Associate. Professor at Biotechnology Department, IIT-Roorkee. He completed his PhD from Tata Institute of Fundamental Research TIFR-Mumbai, and Post-doc from Rutgers University & University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB-Texas). His areas of expertise are Structural Biology, Protein Engineering, Bio- molecular Interactions, Glycoimmunology, Virology and Structure based design of Therapeutics and Scaffolds, Bionanotechnology, Algal Biotechnology etc. He has published ~ 75 Research articles and book chapters in various reputed international Journals such as Journal of Biological chemistry (JBC) Biochemistry, BBA General Subjects, Biochemical Journal, RSC Advances, Carbohydrate Polymers and Biotechnology for Biofuels etc. He authored a book on “Protein Engineering Techniques”. He won several awards and fellowships for his research work. Most prominent are: Young scientist awards from Indian Science Congress association (ISCA) -2009, National Academy of Sciences India (NASI)-2014, and Innovative Young Biotechnologist Award (IYBA)-2013 by DBT.




Dr. Garlapati received his Ph.D. in Bioprocess Engineering from IIT Kharagpur, India with M.Tech (Biotech) and B.Pharm as his Master's and Bachelor's Degrees, respectively. He has around ten year's experience as a teacher/ researcher, including 2-years post-doctoral stay at UAB, Spain. He is a recipient of A4U Postdoctoral Fellowship (Spain), Institute Fellowship (IIT KGP) and GATE Fellowship. He is serving as an International Advisory Panel Member, Elsevier; EBM in "Frontiers in Bioengineering and Biotechnology"; He has been a part of 2 Indian patents, published 35-Scopus/SCI- papers & 20 Book chapters, Edited 1 Book and guided several Ph.D./M.Tech/B.Tech students.




Norman G. Lewis currently holds positions of Regents Professor and Eisig-Tode Distinguished Professor, Institute of Biological Chemistry, at Washington State University. He has received numerous forms of recognition including: election to Corresponding Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh, FRSE, Scotland’s National Academy of Science and Letters; Fellow of the American Society for Plant Biologists (ASPB); Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), Life Member of the Phytochemical Society for North America (PSNA), Phytochemical Pioneer (PSNA) and Fellow, International Academy of Wood Science (IAWS). Philippe MICHAUD is a Professor of biochemistry at the head of the Biological engineering department of Polytech Clermont Ferrand, a school of engineering of the Blaise Pascal University (France). He has published 105 research papers and reviews in international peerreviewed journals. He is the inventor or co-inventor of 11 patents, 2 of them with industrial exploitation. He is the author or co-author of 4 book chapters. He is the general secretary of the International Forum on Industrial Bioprocesses.




Dr. Mohammad Hossein Morowvat research interests are Metabolic and Bioprocess Engineering of Escherichia coli, Systems and Synthetic Biology, Microalgal Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical Biotechnology, Microalgal Biofuels and Monoclonal Antibodies Production. Since 2014, he is teaching Biosafety, Nanobiotechnology, Cell Culture, Biology and Genetic Engineering, Fundamentals and Principles of Engineering in Medical Biotechnology, Biological Products and Pharmaceutical Biotechnology to Pharmacy and PhD students in Shiraz University of Medical Sciences, Shiraz, Iran.




I received my Ph.D. in Molecular Genetics in 2014, and my postdoctoral degree in Pharmaceutical Biotechnology from Pharmaceutical Sciences Research, Shiraz University of Medical Sciences in 2017. Presently, I have published more than 45 papers in the fields of vaccine design, and protein engineering. My fields of interest are industrial biotechnology, bioinformatics, systems biology, and immunoinformatics.








Agnieszka Saeid graduated from Department of Chemistry of Wrocław University of Science and Technology in 2005. She obtained MSc in the field of Biotechnology, specialization Environmental Chemistry. The topic of MSc thesis was “Mineral feed additives based on biomass of microalga Spirulina sp.” After graduation, she began Ph.D. studies at Institute of Inorganic Technology and Mineral Fertilizers, at Wrocław University of Science and Technology. During the study, she was granted a scholarship to participate in Postgraduate School of Industrial Ecology (PSIE) - IndEcol at Norwegian University of Science and Technology in Trondheim.




Giovanni Sannia is Professor of Molecular Biology and Industrial Biotechnology at the University of Naples, Federico II, Italy. Prof. Sannia has been visiting scientist and visiting Professor at the University of Cambridge (UK), University Paul Cezanne of Marseille (France) and the University of Westminster of London (UK). He is, since 2000, Head of the PhD Course in Biotechnology. He has been cconsultant for industries and for the Campania Regional Council; member, on behalf of the Academy of Finland, of the “SCIENTIFIC ADVISORY BOARD” of the VTT Industrial Biotechnology Centre of Excellence, Finland; leader of the European Network on “Oxidative enzymes for improved industrial processes, sustainable waste management and hazard reduction (OXIZYMES)”.



Alexander Seifalian, Professor of Nanotechnology and Regenerative Medicine worked at the Royal Free Hospital and University College London for over 26 years, during this time he spent a period of time at Harvard Medical School looking at caused of cardiovascular diseases and a year at Johns Hopkins Medical School looking at treatment of liver. He published more than 647 peer-reviewed research papers, and registered 14 UK and International patents. He is currently CEO of NanoRegMed Ltd, working on the commercialisation of his research. During his career Prof Seifalian has led and managed many large projects with successful outcomes in terms of commercialisation and translation to patients.








Professor Carlos Ricardo Soccol is the research group leader of Department of Bioprocesses Engineering and Biotechnology (DEBB) at UFPR. Professor Soccol has experience in food bioprocessing, especially in the area of, enzymes, industrial bioprocesses, nutraceuticals & functional foods, applied microbiology and fermentation technology. The research carried out till-date has credited him with 1117 publications, including patents (70), books (23), book chapters (125), original papers (327) and research communications in conferences/symposia (572). His research articles have so far been cited 9800 times (ResearchGate database) with Index h=46 ). It has also led the successful supervision of 57 PhD students, 108 Master’s students and 16 post doctorate students. In 2001, He did Professor HDR in Agri-Foods Biotechnology at Aix Marseille University, Marseille-France. He was visitor professor at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, Switzerland (2009), University Lille 1-France (2014) and University Blaise Pascal, Clermont Ferrand-France (2015). He received several national and international awards, including the Science and Technology award of the Government of Paraná (1996), Best Scientific Achievement of the Year 2001 by Ministry of Sugar of Cuba (MINAZ), The Scopus/Elsevier Award (2009), Dr. Honoris Causa, University Blaise Pascal-France (2010), Outstanding Scientist at 5th International Conference on Industrial Bioprocesses, Taipei, Taiwan, Henri Nestlé Award - Nestlé, Brazil (2014). Since 2014, Prof. Soccol is member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences. He is occupying the position of the Editor of the Brazilian Archives of Biology and Technology since 1997-2015. He also holds the position of scientist IA of CNPq, Brazil. He is a technical and scientific consultant of several companies, agencies and Editorial member of Scientifics journals.




Shuang Zhang received the B.S. degree in Mathematics and Applied Mathematics from the Neijiang Normal University, Neijiang, China, in 2007, and the M.S. degree in Control Engineering from the Institute of Optics and Electronics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Chengdu, in 2011,and the Ph.D degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineers from University of Macau, Macau, China, in 2019.
He has been an associate Professor in College of Computer Science, Neijiang Normal University; and a Postdoctor in School of Life Science and Technology, University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC). His current research interests include human body communication, Digital signal processing, and body sensor network. He is a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and a senior member of the Chinese Society of Biomedical Engineering (CSBME) and a senior member of the Chinese Society for Electrical Engineering (CSEE).
