Smart Materials

Publishes original research articles, letters, case reports, reviews/mini-reviews and guest edited thematic issues on various topics related to smart materials. 

The Smart Materials section of the journal Current Chinese Science publishes original research articles, letters, reviews/mini-reviews and guest edited thematic issues on various topics related to smart materials.

This section is not limited to a specific aspect of the field but is instead devoted to a wide range of sub fields in the area. Articles of a multidisciplinary nature are particularly welcome. Submissions in the following smart materials areas are of special interest to the readers of this journal:

Dr. Yong-Lai Zhang received his BSc (2004) and PhD (2009) from Jilin University, China. He joined Jilin University in 2010 and is currently a full professor in the State Key Laboratory of Integrated Optoelectronics, College of Electronic Science and Engineering, Jilin University. In 2011, he was awarded a “Hong Kong Scholar” postdoctoral fellow. His research interests include smart materials and devices, laser fabrication of graphene-based microdevices, biomimetic surfaces and Lab-on-a-Chip systems.

张永来教授毕业于吉林大学,获无机化学博士学位,2010年在吉林大学电子科 学与工程学院任教,2015年被评为教授。2011年入选首届“香江学者”计划 ,2015年获得国家优秀青年基金资助,研究领域为智能材料与器件,具体包括 激光微纳加工石墨烯智能器件、仿生表面和微流控芯片系统。

Doctor Yinshun Wang is a Professor in the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering- North China Electric Power University. He obtained Ph.D from the Institute of Electrical Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences in the field of applied superconductivity in electrical engineering. He was a Postdoc at the MAYO Foundation and MIT, USA. He became a visiting scientist in FZK, Germany. Then he became a professor at the Institute of Electrical Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Now, from January 2008, he became a full time professor of North China Electric Power University. He is a Member of IEC/TC-90. In the last 5 years, he has published 50 articles and applied 20 patents, and has published three books. His research interest is in applied superconductivity in power systems, such as HTS cable, transformer, fault current limiter, magnet, cryogenic insulation, HTS characteristics, etc.

Quan-Kui Lin obtained a PhD in Materials Science from Zhejiang University. Currently, he is an Associate Professor in Biomaterials, Wenzhou Medical University, Wenzhou (China). His recent research interests are focused on Ocular biomaterials design and modification, including the surface modification of intraocular lens for anti-Posterior Capsule Opacification applications, and surface-mediated ocular drug delivery. He has published more than 20 articles in numerous distinguished journals.

Wencai Liu received a doctor's degree from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2011. He has been engaged in the development and application technology research of high-Performance magnesium/aluminum alloys for a long time. As the project leader, he presided over more than 18 national and provincial scientific research projects. He was selected as a Young Star Scholar of Science and Technology in Shanghai and a Young Star Scholar of Morningstar in Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and won one first prize of technology invention in Shanghai. He has published 105 academic papers, applied for 69 national invention patents, 36 of which have been authorized.

Ajay Kumar Mishra (MSc, MPhil, PhD, CSci, FRSC) is a full Professor at the Nanotechnology and Water Sustainability Research Unit at College of Science, Engineering & Technology, University of South Africa, Florida Science Campus, South Africa. Prof. Mishra is currently working for University of South Africa as “Full Professor” since January 2015. He is also working as “Adjunct Professor” at Jiangsu University, China. Prof Mishra recently recognised as “Fellow member” and “Chartered Scientist” by Royal Society of Chemistry, UK. Prof AK Mishra research interest involves in the broader areas of Nanoscience/Nanotechnology; Materials Science; Polymers; Composite/Nanocomposites; Photocatalysts and Water Research. He is also actively involved in the area of nanotechnology towards the development of smart materials for various applications in the field of materials science and water research. He supervises students involved in the nanotechnology and water treatment research in projects involving organic, inorganic pollutants from both synthetic and waste water solutions. His research focuses aims at developing a protocol which may lead to developing a technology which may be utilized for industrial purposes. He has delivered a number of including Plenary/Keynote/Invited Lectures. For his outstanding research profile, he was awarded a number of international awards. Prof. Mishra also served as Associate Editor as well as member of the editorial board of many peer-reviewed international journals. He has edited several books by the renowned publishers and also reviewer of many international journals. He is serving as member advisory board of a number of international scientific societies, conferences and workshops.

Dr. Bijun Fang is a Professor at the School of Materials Science and Engineering at Changzhou University. He received a Ph.D. degree in 2002 in Materials Science and Engineering at Shanghai Institute of Ceramics of Chinese Academy of Sciences. From 2003 to 2005, he was a post-doctor in the Department of Applied Chemistry of Faculty of Engineering at Utsunomiya University. He has published more than 150 academic papers, 2 books, and holds over 20 patents. His research interest focuses on materials and devices of piezoelectric and ferroelectric ceramics and single crystals, crystal growth, nano functional materials and solvent hydrothermal synthesis.

Dr Valery Alexander Barachevsky graduated from St. Petersburg State University in 1960 and Post-graduated from the Institute Physics of St. Petersburg University in 1964. Currently, he is the Head of Lab for Photochromic Systems, Photochemistry Center of FSRC “Crystallography and Photonics” at the Russian Academy of Sciences. His professional interests include photochemistry of organic compounds, including photochromic compounds and photochromic nanoparticles, interaction organic systems with laser radiation development and application non-silver organic reversible and irreversible light-sensitive media for recording, storage, processing, transformation, and display of optical information with using bit-by-bit and holographic. He has published 10 books, 455 scientific papers, and 117 Russian and foreign patents.
