Dr. Yanfeng Luo works as a professor of biomaterials at Chongqing University, China
since 2008. She is now leading the Lab for Smart & Bioinspired Materials. Dr. Luo
has long been engaged in biodegradable smart/bioinspired materials for bone repair and
regeneration. She is good at applying biomechanical principles to direct the design of
biomaterials for bone. The developed materials are featured with high mechanical
properties and actively applying “mechanical loading” to bone, either by incorporating
mechano-growth factor (MGF) and/or by the recovery stress of shape memory polymers. Dr.
Luo also pays great attention in uncovering the physics mechanism responsible for the
interfacial interactions of cell-protein-material. She has chaired about twenty projects
from government and industry partners. To date, her research output consists of ~60
articles and ~40 patents.
