From a biochemistry point of view, Biotin or vitamin B7, previously also
known as vitamin H, possesses a simple chemical structure; thus it is quickly
metabolized and addressed to its biological tasks. For that reason, probably, no case
report of immediate- and delayed-type reactions are described in the literature. Just two
cases of occupational allergic contact dermatitis to biotin and biotin precursors have
been reported.
