Dr. Skaper obtained a doctorate (Ph.D.) in Biohemistry from the University of South Dakota. Dr. Skaper also holds a Laurea in Chemistry from the University of Padua (Italy). Currently Dr. Skaper is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical and Pharmacological Sciences, University of Padua. He has authored/co-authored over 300 research papers, book chapters and monographs, as well as having guest-edited six journal thematic issues and a volume of Methods in Molecular Biology on neurotrophic factors. He is currently Editor-in-Chief of CNS & Neurological Disorders Drug Targets, and a Councilor of the International Association of Neurorestoratology.

Dr. Rahman is a Professor of Pharmacology in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at South Dakota State University in Brookings, USA. He received his Ph.D. in Neuropharmacology from the Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada. Dr. Rahman completed his post-doctoral fellowship from Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis in USA. His research focus is drug discovery in neuropharmacology, i.e. the development of novel therapeutic candidates for the treatment of drug addiction and neuropsychiatric disorders. Dr. Rahman has authored over 120 scientific publications, edited multiple books in CNS disorders and drug addiction field, and served on editorial boards of several biomedical Journals.

Jeffrey M. Witkin

Jeffrey M. Witkin, Ph.D. is an in vivo discovery scientist in the Neuroscience Discovery Department of the Lilly Research Labs, Eli Lilly and Company, Indianapolis, Indiana, USA. His research group has focused for the past 15 years on the discovery of improved therapeutics for depression and epilepsy. He has authored over 200 research papers and been honored with multiple awards. He is a member of the College of Neuropsychopharmacology and the American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics where he is the past chairman of the Behavioral Pharmacology Division.

Sandra Amor

Sandra Amor obtained her PhD in Pathology at London University, UK in 1988, specialising in virus infections of the central nervous system. After her PhD she established a research group at St Thomas’s Hospital examining how autoimmune responses to brain proteins are involved in multiple sclerosis. Her research expanded and after a few years in neurosciences at Imperial College she moved to the Netherlands where she became Head of Autoimmunity at a Research Institute in Rijswijk. In 2007, Sandra Amor moved her research back into human pathology at the Free University in Amsterdam. As Head of Multiple Sclerosis Research in the Pathology Department her group specialises in examining the very first steps in the formation of damage in MS brains. She also has a honorary position at Blizard Institute, Barts and The London Hospital, London UK.

Hari S. Sharma

Hari Shanker Sharma obtained his Ph D in 1982 from Banaras Hindu University and Dr Med Sci in 1999 from Uppsala University and engaged in Neuroscience research over 40 years. He is currently the Director of Research International Experimental CNS Injury & Repair (IECNSIR) based at Uppsala University. He authored more than 250 original research papers and Edited several Books in Progress in Brain Research Series and International Review of Neurobiology series. Cinzia Volonté

Dr. Volonté obtained a Doctorate in Biology from University of Rome La Sapienza, Italy. After postdoctoral studies at Cornell University Ithaca-USA, and Columbia University New York-USA, she became tenured scientist at the Institute of Neurobiology, National Research Council, Rome. Currently, Dr. Volonté is senior scientist at CNR-Institute of Cell Biology & Neurobiology, and PI of Cellular Neurobiology Unit at Fondazione Santa Lucia, Rome. Mohammad A. Kamal

Dr. Mohammad Amjad Kamal is a Distinguished Adjunct Professor at the King Fahd Medical Research Center, King Abdulaziz University, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Dr. Kamal's biochemical research has culminated in more than 270 publications in internationally respected journals, and 65 abstracts at international conferences. Dr. Kamal migrated to Australia in 1998 and was awarded a prestigious U2000 Postdoctoral Fellowship in 2000 by the University of Sydney, School of Molecular and Microbial Biosciences. In synopsis, his passion is the medical science and its rapid translation across all communities to mitigate and off set common degenerative disorders. This work has taken him around the world, allowed him to interact across cultures and appreciate the multicultural flavors that, when optimally combined, can move medical sciences forward and support their practical application across borders, customs and nations. Recently, he initiated efforts to establish a “Novel Global Community Educational Foundation” (NGCEF) as well.

Filippo Caraci

Dr. Caraci graduated MD in 2001, in Catania University (Catania, Italy) and he got his PhD degree in Neuropharmacology, in 2009.In June 2011 he was appointed Assistant Professor in Pharmacology at University of Catania and Visiting Professor at University of Bordeaux in February-March 2016 as winner of the Visiting Scholar Grant 2016. Manuel Graeber (Biography
Manuel Graeber

Professor Manuel Graeber MD PhD FRCPath is a neuropathologist and the Barnet-Cropper Chair and Director of Brain Tumour Research at the University of Sydney. Following a position as staff member at the Max-Planck-Institute for Psychiatry in Munich, Germany, he spent three years as a post-doctoral fellow at the Harvard Medical School in Boston, USA. From 1992 to1999 he returned to Munich where he headed a molecular neuropathology laboratory first at the University of Munich and then at the Max Planck Institute of Neurobiology. In 2000, Manuel Graeber founded the University Department of Neuropathology at Imperial College London. He decided to close down the Department for ethical reasons related to brain banking and won a whistle-blowing case in 2008 with funding and support from the British Medical Association.

Flavio Moroni

Flavio Moroni obtained his M.D. degree and then the title of specialist in Toxicology and in Anesthesiology from the University of Florence, Italy. After a few years of post-doctoral training at NIMH, Saint Elizabeth’s Hospital, Washington D.C. (USA), he became full Professor of Pharmacology, Medical Faculty, University of Florence and Director of the Clinical Unit in Toxicology, Careggi University Hospital.

Dr. Moroni is now Emeritus Professor of Pharmacology at University of Florence. Scientific contribution have been given in the field of excitatory neurotransmission, neurotoxicity and clinical toxicology with approximately 250 referred papers and several approved patents in this field. Original neuroprotectant agents able to reduce brain damage in animal stroke and toxicity models have been described and developed. Clinical protocols for the treatments of acute and chronic intoxication have been described and validated (Mushroom poisoning; Cyanide poisoning; Drugs of abuse).

Gianluca Serafini

Gianluca Serafini obtained his degree in Medicine at Sapienza University of Rome, later becoming psychiatrist. Jean F. Soustiel

Dr. Soustiel completed the residency program of Neurosurgery at Rambam Medical Center in Haifa. He was a fellow of microvascular neurosurgery program at Wertheimer Hospital and Alexis Carrel Medical School in Lyon/France. Dr. Soustiel was appointed as Chief of Neurosurgery at Galilee Medical Center and finally at Sheba Medical Center in Tel Aviv. He joined the Faculty of Medicine of the Technion in Haifa in 1997 and Bar Ilan University in 2013. His research focuses on neurotrauma and neurointensive care both in clinical and experimental research. His main interests include cerebral blood flow, metabolism and mitochondrial damage. Seyed K. Tayebati

Seyed Khosrow Tayebati Was born in 1961. He is the Associate Professor of Human Anatomy at School of Pharmacy of Camerino University in Italy. Professor Tayebati is Ph.D. in Medicinal Chemistry from the University of Pisa. During his post-doc period, using suitable animal models, he studied different neurotransmitter systems, brain morphological features, effects of hypertension on different cerebral areas and their microvascular system both in normal ageing and in neurodegenerative diseases.
