This chapter reviews the proverbial “nightmare claim,” that is claims that are problematic because they
are old, complex, or perhaps involve difficult claimants, judges or attorneys. Thankfully there are ways in which
to successfully manage such cases. Various closing strategies, medical strategies and legal strategies will be
presented along with some key investigation steps to take from the first notice of a workers’ compensation claim.
The author concludes with methods in which to manage expenses and settlement tactics as well.
