Design of consistant and facile methods for the synthesis of silver nanoparticles is a
significant forward direction in the field of application of materials science, nanotechnology and
medicine. A number of methods have been suggested in the literature for the synthesis of nonagglomerated
nanoparticles. These include natural and synthetic polymers, biological macromolecules,
latex particles, mesoporous inorganic materials, dendrimers, microgels or hydrogels, colloidal systems
and others. In this chapter, we review the latest development of various surfactant based synthesis of
metal nanoparticles with a few illustrations on how the stability, morphology and complexity of
nanosystems differs with current methodologies.
