Abstract

The study proposes a method for integrating a sensor with a product to
enhance condition based and predictive maintenance. The proposed method essentially
consists of the integration of the following: sensor for measurement and data
acquisition, microcontroller for control, actuator for effecting the control, cloud system
for data storage, and the Internet of Things (IoT) for sharing the information collected
in real time. The study presents the Proteus models for achieving measurement and
control as well as the one for the integration of cloud storage and IoT. An increase in
safety, high operational efficiency, and good maintenance practices can be obtained
through effective analysis and use of data acquired with the use of sensors. Hence, the
study presents a framework through which the use of sensors for enhancing
maintenance operations can be harnessed.
