Michel Ronjat Department of Pharmacy Center de Biochimie Structurale University of Nantes Nantes France Biography
Biography of Michel Ronjat
Prof. Ronjat’s main topic of his research has always been ion transport through biological membranes. In the first period, he investigated the structure-function relationship of +H-ATPase and Ca2+-ATPase using protein intrinsic fluorescence as well as fluorescent analogues of ATP. Later, he focused his work on ion channels, in particular the voltage dependent L-type Ca2+ channels and the ryanodine receptors. He investigated on the intra and intermolecular interactions that control the coordinated activity of these channels. Finally, he investigated the effect of toxins on these channels and currently explored the use of such toxin as potential pharmacological agent in cardiopathies.
