Now, he is working at the Department of Gastroenterology of the General Hospital of Shenyang Military Area as a vice chief physician. His major research interests are the clinical researches in the etiology, diagnosis, and management of liver cirrhosis, portal hypertension (especially portal vein thrombosis and Budd-Chiari syndrome), and hepatocellular carcinoma.

From 2010 to 2016, she trained and worked as Faculty Instructor in the Department of Medicine, Division of Gastroenterology, at the Mount Sinai Feinstein IBD Center of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York. Giulia completed a PhD from Science of Alimentation, Doctorate, University of Veterinary, Bologna, Italy, in 2013. Additionally, Giulia received an MD, in 2005, from School of Medicine and Surgery, University of Bologna, Italy and she completed her fellowship in Gastroenterology from the University of Bologna in 2009. Dr Giulia Roda’s research focuses on inflammatory bowel diseases, microscopic colitis and IBD related cancer. Her studies involve mucosal immunology, regulatory T cells, epithelia cells, microbiome and diet interventions. Dr. Giulia Roda is the author of more than 60 peer-reviewed publications in international journals. Dr. Teschke’s scientific and clinical interest in hepatotoxicity started as resident at the Department of Pathology, University of Marburg/Germany, with following focus on alcoholic liver disease and biochemical studies as resident at the Bronx VA Hospital/Mount Sinai Hospital in New York with Professor Charles S. Lieber during 1972-1975. More specifically, here he solubilized the hepatic microsomal ethanol oxidizing system and isolated it from the other alcohol metabolizing enzymes alcohol dehydrogenase and catalase by DEAE column chromatography. Other studies included the area of cytochrome P450 and various microsomal enzymes.

He received his MD with honors from the University of Veracruz and completed a General Surgery Residency and HPB Surgery Fellowship at the National Institute of Medical Sciences and Nutrition in Mexico City. He is an ASTS-certified Abdominal Transplant Surgeon from Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota and Living Donor Liver and Autoislet Transplantation Fellowship at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. He is founding member of the Mexican Chapter of the AHPBA and Level 2 member of the National System of Researchers in Mexico and received the 2019 ASTS Foundation Vanguard Prize.

Before that, he had gained years of working experiences in other important Hospitals all over Italy (V Cervello Hospital Palermo, Bufalini Hospital Cesena, others). He is a recognized expert in the management of liver diseases, expecially vascular liver diseases, liver transplantation, HCC, hepatological diseases in thalassemia and iron overload, and, moreover, gastrointestinal endoscopy, liver ultrasound, IBD.

Magdalini Matziari has joined the Chemistry department at Xi'an-Jiaotong Liverpool University in 2012 as a lecturer. After having obtained a PhD degree in 2001 at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens she worked there as a researcher and teaching assistant in the laboratory of organic chemistry. In 2006 she received the national award in Material Science of Unesco-L'Oréal, for "In Women in Science" concentrating excellence program. Magdalini works in several areas of synthetic organic chemistry with a strong emphasis on drug-design and medicinal chemistry. Currently the main research interests include the development of small molecular weight inhibitors towards HIV and Hepatitis C virus enzymes, drug delivery systems and studies on organocatalysis.

Dr. Wang has an active research interest in the molecular and genetic mechanisms of cholesterol homeostasis and the pathophysiology of cholesterol-related diseases. The long-term objectives of his research are (i) to identify gallstone (LITH) genes and investigate their genotypes and phenotypes in mice and humans, as well as elucidate the molecular, cellular, genetic and physical-chemical mechanisms of cholesterol gallstone disease at a fundamental level; (ii) to study molecular, cellular, genetic and physical-chemical factors that determine intestinal absorption efficiency of cholesterol and fatty acids; and (iii) to investigate the pathophysiology of the metabolic syndrome with a special focus on the relationship between insulin resistance and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease.
