Ludovico Abenavoli

Ludovico Abenavoli is an Associate Professor of gastroenterology at the Department of Health Sciences, University “Magna Græcia”, Catanzaro (Italy). Since 2012, he is invited professor at the University of Batna (Algeria), since 2015, he is inviting professor at the University of Novi Sad (Serbia), and since 2016, he is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Medicine, University “Iuliu Hatieganu” of Cluj-Napoca (Romania). Between 2012 and 2015, he was board member of University Gastroenterology Education Committee (UNIGASTRO), and between 2013 and 2017, he was board member of Italian Society of Gastroenterology and Digestive Endoscopy (S.I.G.E.). Ludovico Abenavoli is the author of 144 publications in peer-reviewed international Journals in the field of gastroenterology and hepatology. His main contributions include: the treatment of alcoholic and nonalcoholic liver diseases, the evaluation of health effects of Mediterranean diet, the epidemiology of liver diseases.

Dr. Joan Maurel, MD PhD, is a consultant medical oncologist in the Department of Medical Oncology, Hospital Clínic, University of Barcelona. Graduating from the Medical school, University Autonoma of Barcelona, he obtained his medical degree in 1989 and the title of specialist in medical Oncology in 1995. His doctoral thesis was read in 1998. Since 2000 he has been working at the Hospital Clinic of Barcelona, as a staff member in the Oncology Department. Dr. Maurel has written more than 100 journal articles with an overall impact factor of 505.4. He is the former President of Grupo Español Multidisciplinar en Cáncer Digestivo (GEMCAD) Cooperative Group and a member of Spanish Society of Medical Oncology (SEOM) and American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO).

Dr Fu is an Associate Professor of Biostatistics at Case Western Reserve University. He has over 15 years of experience in medical research, especially in cancer research. He have received a broad training in mathematics, statistics/biostatistics and computer science in both China and United States. His primary interests include providing advice for researchers in terms of study design, best practice for estimation, diagnostics, and use of appropriate statistical methods to analyze the complex data from pre-clinical and clinical studies. His methodologic research interests are in the areas of survival analysis, study design, measurements with limits of detection, tree-based methods, problem of separation, copula models to estimate the correlation of bivariate failure times and evaluation of diagnostics and agreement. Pedro Cahn has been working in infectious diseases for the last 45 years and has been involved in the HIV/AIDS arena since 1982. He has served as Chief of Infectious Diseases at the Juan Fernandez Hospital, where he is now Senior Consultant. He is President of Fundación Huésped in Buenos Aires, the largest NGO in Argentina serving patients with and at risk of HIV/AIDS. Dr. Cahn is Professor of Infectious Diseases at the Buenos Aires University Medical School. He is also a Past-President of the International AIDS Society. He is also an external advisor for UNAIDS, the World Health Organization (WHO), the Pan-American Health Organization, UNITAID, Doctors without Borders, as well as a member of the antiretroviral guidelines panel both for WHO and a former member of the guidelines panel of the International Antiviral Society-USA. Dr. Raouf Khalil is an MD PhD who is very interested in scientific research. Ruby F. Meredith, MD, PhD is a Professor of Radiation Oncology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. I was born and educated in Warsaw, Poland where I obtained my medical, neurosurgical, doctoral degrees and postdoctoral award in the field of Neurosurgery from the Medical Research Center of Polish Academy of Sciences and the Jerzy and Krystyna Chorobski Fundation. In 1989 I joined the Surgical Neurology Branch, at the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, NIH first as International Fogarty Fellow and next as the Senior Researcher and Clinical Associate. In 2010 I joined JAMA Editorial Board as the Fishbein Fellow. In 2009 our patent “Nitrite for vascular diseases” got the “Deal of Distinction” Award. In 2013 I retired from the NIH.
