Dr Nikolaos Labrou received his BSc degree in Chemistry from the University of

Since 2014, Prof. Soccol is member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences. He is occupying the position of the Editor of the Brazilian Archives of Biology and Technology since 1997-2015. Dr. Iskender Tiryaki is affiliated with Department of Agricultural Biotechnology, Faculty of Agriculture, Canakkale
Onsekiz Mart University, Canakkale, Turkey. He received his M.Sc. and Ph.D. from Agronomy (Plant Breeding and
Genetics) Department of University of Nebraska, Lincoln-NE, USA. His primary research area is Plant Breeding and
Genetics, and Plant Molecular Genetics and Biotechnology. He has more than 80 high research quality papers. He
has authored of two books. Dr. Tiryaki is currently serving as the Member of Editorial Board of peer reviewed
journals. He has served as special technical editor or reviewer of several articles for reputed journals across the
globe. He is currently serving as department head of Agricultural Biotechnology at Faculty of Agriculture,
Canakkale Onsekiz Mart University, Turkey.

Biography of J.-J. Zhang
I obtained my Ph.D degree in microbiology in Chinese Academy of Sciences, China (2006), and have my
postdoc training in Indiana University School of medicine, USA.
My current research focused on the signaling mechanism as well as the pathogenesis of important
bacterial causative agents. Specifically, my current project is studying 1) the regulatory mechanisms of
sigma-54 (RpoN)-dependent gene expression in Borrelia and Leptospira, 2) the second messengers, c-di-
GMP/AMP, signaling systems in Borrelia, 3) type III gene regulation mechanism in Yersinia. The aims is
to explore diverse strategies of how microbes response to the stress conditions and environmental
changes, and elucidate and characterize the mechanisms of the bacterial infections.
