Construction of a γ-Butyrolactone Moiety: A Facile Synthesis of 3β- Hydroxy-5,6-Dihydro-17β -Methoxy-Pregnan-21,16α-Carbalactone - a New D-Ring Fused Steroidal γ-Butyrolactone from an Abundant 20- Oxopregnane using Metal Mediated Halogenation as the Key Step
Ammonium Acetate Promoted Rapid and Efficient Synthesis of γ-Benzopyranones and 3, 4-Dihydropyrimidin-2(1H)-ones/thiones Under Solvent-free Conditions: A Parallel Scrutiny of Microwave Irradiation Versus Conventional Heating
Dr. Alberto Marra obtained his Ph.D. degree (1989) in Organic Chemistry from the University Paris VI, France, working at the École Normale Supérieure. After Postdoctoral Research, Dr. Marra moved to the University of Ferrara, Italy, where he joined the group of Prof. A. Dondoni. Later on, in 1998, he was promoted to the position of Associate Professor at the same University, and in 2012, he got a permanent position as Professor at the University of Montpellier, France, working in the Institut des Biomolécules Max Mousseron (IBMM). Since the very beginning, Dr. Marra’s research interests have been centred on carbohydrate chemistry. While his recent work involves dealing with the synthesis and molecular recognition properties of glycosylated crown ethers, sugar-calixarenes, glycodendrimers, and multivalentiminosugar architectures.
