After Postdoctoral Research, Dr. Marra moved to the University of Ferrara, Italy, where he joined the group of Prof. A. Dondoni. Later on, in 1998, he was promoted to the position of Associate Professor at the same University, and in 2012, he got a permanent position as Professor at the University of Montpellier, France, working in the Institut des Biomolécules Max Mousseron (IBMM). Since the very beginning, Dr. Marra’s research interests have been centred on carbohydrate chemistry. While his recent work involves dealing with the synthesis and molecular recognition properties of glycosylated crown ethers, sugar-calixarenes, glycodendrimers, and multivalentiminosugar architectures.

Janine Cossy’s early career was spent in Reims, where she did her undergraduate and graduate studies at the University of Champagne-Ardenne, working on photochemistry under the supervision of Pr. Jean Pierre Pète. After a postdoctoral stay with Pr. Barry M. Trost, for two years at the University of Wisconsin (USA), she returned to Reims where she became, in 1990, Director of Research at the CNRS. In the same year, she moved to Paris and, since 1990, she is Professor of Organic Chemistry at the ESPCI Paris. Janine Cossy's research interests focus on the synthesis of natural products and biologically active molecules and on the development of synthetic methods (organometallic reactions, catalysis, ring expansions, opening of strained rings, methods for the synthesis of heterocyclic compounds, stereoselective reactions). She has many collaborations with pharma and agro companies. Her research efforts have resulted in more than 470 publications and 15 patents. Among the awards, she received the CNRS Bronze Medal (1987), the CNRS Silver Medal (1996), UK Royal Society Rosalyn Franklin International Lecturership awarded to internationally recognized women scientists (UK) (2005), Le Bel Award from the French Chemical Society (France) (2009). Professor Ishihara has served on numerous editorial advisory boards, including: “Letters in Organic Chemistry,” “European Journal of Organic Chemistry,” “Asian Journal of Organic Chemistry,” and “Topics in Current Chemistry.” His principle areas of research have evolved over time from the design of Diels-Alder catalysts to the design of superacids to design of recoverable and reusable catalysts to the design of supramolecular acid-base combined catalysts. neglected diseases and other custom synthetic products. His expertise lies in the design and
development of catalysts for various coupling reactions, development of non-infringing synthetic
routes for drugs and drug intermediates, Synthesis of biologically active drug molecules, process
optimization, cost reduction, resolution of chiral isomers. He has authored 48 publications and
has received various fellowships, presentation prizes and travel grants. He received DST
(Department of Science & Technology)-DFG (German Research) Award for participation in the
59 th Meeting of Nobel Laureates & Students in Lindau, Germany as a young researcher during,
June-July 2009. Since March 2012, he has been appointed as Assistant Professor in Chemistry at
Maratha Vidya Prasarak Samaj's Institute Nashik. His current research interests include design
and development of catalysts, Multi Component Reactions (MCR’s), synthetic routes and
strategies for the synthesis of biological active compounds, synthesis of Nano-particles and their

Dr. Vinod K. Tiwari is associated with Banaras Hindu University since 2005 as Assistant Professor of Organic Chemistry.
