Biography of Alberto Marra
Dr. Alberto Marra obtained his Ph.D. degree (1989) in Organic Chemistry from the University Paris VI, France, working at the École Normale Supérieure. After Postdoctoral Research, Dr. Marra moved to the University of Ferrara, Italy, where he joined the group of Prof. A. Dondoni. Later on, in 1998, he was promoted to the position of Associate Professor at the same University, and in 2012, he got a permanent position as Professor at the University of Montpellier, France, working in the Institut des Biomolécules Max Mousseron (IBMM). Since the very beginning, Dr. Marra’s research interests have been centred on carbohydrate chemistry. While his recent work involves dealing with the synthesis and molecular recognition properties of glycosylated crown ethers, sugar-calixarenes, glycodendrimers, and multivalentiminosugar architectures.

Janine Cossy’s early career was spent in Reims, where she did her undergraduate and graduate studies at the University of Champagne-Ardenne, working on photochemistry under the supervision of Pr. Trost, for two years at the University of Wisconsin (USA), she returned to Reims where she became, in 1990, Director of Research at the CNRS.
