Biography of Jerry J. Wu
Jerry Wu received his Ph.D. degree in 1998 from the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Michigan State University, USA. He is currently a distinguished professor at Feng Chia University in Taiwan. Prof. Wu’s research interests include ozonation and advanced oxidation processes for water and wastewater treatment, functional materials for sensor, energy, medical, biochemical, and environmental applications, analytical techniques for molecule substances, organometallic and inorganic molecules or complexes, kinetics and mechanistic studies of microwave-induced chemical reactions and micro pollutants. In addition, he is also interested in the nanomaterial synthesis via sonochemcial or microwaved approaches and photocatalysis applications, including decontamination, electrochemistry, and hydrogen production from water splitting.

Dr. S. Anandan hails from Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. He has been actively engaged in research and teaching in the area of Solar Energy and nanomaterials. Sébastien Poncet received his engineering diploma and his master degree in physical oceanography from Seatech (Toulon, France) in 2002 and the Ph.D. degree in complex systems from Aix-Marseille University (Marseille, France) in 2005, for a thesis on turbulent rotor-stator interdisk flows (two national awards). He was then assistant lecturer for one year before getting a position of assistant professor at Aix-Marseille University in 2006. He joined the University of Sherbrooke as an Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering in 2014, where he currently is the chairholder of the NSERC/Hydro-Québec/Natural Resources Canada/Emerson Industrial Research Chair in Industrial Energy Efficiency. His laboratory worked on both polymer and membrane surface modifications, green separation process development, integration and intensification, process modelling, technologies of desalination, water and wastewater treatment, microplastics, nanoparticles, and evaluation tools for circular economy.
