He is also a Visiting Professor at the University of Belgrade, Serbia and at two other universities in Saudi Arabia. His research interests are dyslipidemias and thrombosis. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists (FRCPath) and Royal College of Physicians (FRCP). He has 38,395 citations on the Clarivate Core Collection (H-index 89).

Dr. Michael Dashwood PhD has over 40 years’ of research experience. Previously his study area was the central nervous system involved in pain and cardiovascular control and currently in vascular biology. Initially, he was employed at the Medical Research Council’s National Institute for Medical Research in London involved in studies of the central sites of opioid induced nociception and cardiovascular actions. After obtaining an MSc in pharmacology and a PhD in Physiology at the Royal Free Hospital, London, Dr. Dashwood’s focused on vascular receptors and their role in health and disease, mainly on the endothelium-derived factors endothelin and nitric oxide. Dr. Dashwood has published a number of research articles and reviews on the potential beneficial role of perivascular adipose tissue. These studies have been conducted in collaborations with colleagues in countries including Germany, Sweden, Switzerland, Spain, Brasil and the USA and have generated over 200 publications in peer reviewed journals, many reviews and book chapters. Dr. Dashwood is presently an honorary staff member in the Department of Surgery and Interventional Sciences at the Royal Free Hospital/ University College London Medical School.

Professor Greg Dusting is Honorary Professor at the Centre for Eye Research Australia, formerly the Director of Tissue Engineering at the O’Brien Institute, and Honorary Professorial Fellow in Surgery and Ophthalmology at The University of Melbourne. In early years, he was a research scientist at Wellcome Research and had a pioneering role in producing a heart drug now on the international market. In Australia, his team has invented another drug to prevent heart failure developing after heart attacks, and this is now completing Phase 2 clinical trial. He is Associate Editor of 5 international journals, and was awarded the Michael Rand Medal for Pharmacology as well as The Heart Foundation Research Medal (2015) for groundbreaking cardiovascular research.

He has published more than 150 scientific publications, has acted as member of the editorial board for the journal Placenta (2010-2014), and is the founder of the Cellular and Molecular Physiology Laboratory (CMPL) first in the Faculty of Biological Sciences of the Universidad de Concepción (1996) and then in the Faculty of Medicine of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (2003).

Perez-Martinez, Pablo gained his medical degree from University of Cordoba in 1997 and subsequently obtained an MS in Nutrition and Metabolism, Ph.D. in Nutrition and Post-doc in Nutrigenomics from Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging from the Tufts University, Boston, MA. Currently, he is the Professor at the School of Medicine, University of Cordoba and Medical Staff in the Department of Internal Medicine at the Reina Sofia University Hospital, Spain. During his scientific career, he has been involved in several projects focused on the genetics factors predisposing to cardiovascular disease and their interaction with the environment and behavioral factors with special emphasis on diet and particularly on the gene-diet interaction determining metabolic syndrome, obesity, cardiovascular diseases and aging. Moreover, he has conducted several studies on the identification of dietary patterns, recognition of food and nutrients, which modulate cardiovascular risk. The part of information in scientific advice to the Ministry of the Environment, Rural and Marine (Spain), in the preparation of material necessary to request the EFSA health claims and health of olive oil was based on research conducted in the field of nutrition and olive oil was also given by Dr. Perez-Martinez. He is the member of the Spanish Society of Internal Medicine, Directive Board of the Spanish Society of Atherosclerosis (coordinator work group Lifestyle and Nutrition; former Treasury) and the Spanish Hypercholesterolemia Family Foundation.

Dr. Khalid Al-Rasadi obtained his Medical Degree in 1998, and his postgraduate training in Medical Biochemistry at McGill University, Canada during 2002-2006. He spent another two years in Canada, working as a scientist at the Royal Victoria Hospital, McGill University, under the supervision of Prof. Jacques Genest. There he performed a number of studies on the molecular genetics of familial hypercholesterolemia and hypoalphalipoproteinemia. In that period Dr. Al-Rasadi also received training at the lipid clinic of the Royal Victoria Hospital, McGill University. He was also awarded a certificate in Clinical Lipidology by the National Lipid Association in the United State in 2008. Dr. Al-Rasadi is currently working as an associate professor in the department of biochemistry at the College of Medicine & Health Sciences at Sultan Qaboos University, Oman (SQU). He is the director of the medical research Center at SQU in Oman. He is one of the founder members of the Oman Society of Lipid and Atherosclerosis (OSLA) and its current President. Dr. Al-Rasadi has led several studies nationally and regionally such as the Gulf Familial hypercholesterolemia Study, and the Oman FH Cascade Screening Study. His main scientific activity is currently the application of modern echocardiographic techniques for early unmasking of coronary artery disease and the involvement of psoriasis as a cardiovascular risk factor.

He is the Head of the Echocardiography and director of the Laboratory of Preventive Cardiology of the 2nd Cardiology Department. He works in the field of non- invasive cardiovascular imaging. He has a national and worldwide reputation and is regarded as one of the leading experts in the field echocardiography and inflammation in CV diseases. As a result, he is a member of the accreditation committee for cardiac ultrasound for European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging Certification and Greek Health Authorities and a fellow of the European Society of Cardiology. He was a nucleus member of the ESC WG of Aorta and Peripheral Vascular Diseases (2018). He has published over 200 original papers with over 5000 citations and contributed in several medical textbooks. He has a particular interest in vascular imaging and investigated the effects of vascular function on cardiac function especially after therapeutic interventions.
