Charles J. Malemud received the Ph.D. from George Washington University in 1973 and completed postdoctoral studies at the State University of New York at Stony Brook in 1977. Since 1977, Dr. Malemud has been a member of the faculty at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine where he is presently Professor of Medicine & Anatomy in the Division of Rheumatic Diseases and Senior Investigator of the Arthritis Research Group. He has published over 230 papers, chapters and reviews primarily in the field of chondrocyte biology. Professor Malemud is on the editorial board of several rheumatology, immunology and musculoskeletal journals and is Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Clinical and Cellular Immunology and Global Vaccines and Immunology.

She has graduated from the Medical School of Hacettepe University and had her Pediatrics training in the Department of Pediatrics at the same university. She did her post-doctoral fellowship in Stanford University School of Medicine and returned to her present department in 1990.

Dr Özen has served as the Pediatric Chair in EULAR and as the president of the International Society for Autoinflammatory Diseases. She has published over 300 papers. Her main areas of intereset are autoinflamamtory diseases, vasculitis and lupus.

He is also coordinator of the European Forum on Antiphospholipid Antibodies and of the European Working Party on Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (Euro-Lupus Group) and Chairman of the Lupus Academy. Dr. Cervera has presented over 400 invited lectures and has published more than 800 scientific papers (h index: 63), is co-editor of 30 books, and Associate Editor of the journals “Autoimmune Diseases” and “Lupus Science & Medicine”. His current major research interest includes clinical and epidemiological aspects of systemic autoimmune diseases, particularly systemic lupus erythematosus and the antiphospholipid syndrome, with special focus on its “catastrophic” variant.

Prof Huizinga currently is chairman of Reumatology at Leiden University Medical Center, the oldest university of the Netherlands. He received his MD from the University of Amsterdam in 1986. He received his PhD cum laude in the biochemical and functional characterization of Fc-gamma Receptors in 1999. Since 2000, he has been appointed as a full professor. In 2006, he became the chairman of rheumatology in Leiden. His main interest is pathogenesis and treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and neuro-psychiatric SLE. He has (co)authored over 650 peer-reviewed articles. His H-factor is 81 and has been cited > 28.000 times and has written over 10 book chapters.

Jacques-Olivier Pers is the director of the INSERM research team ERI29 “Immunotherapy and B cell pathologies". He is involved since 1997 in the field of B cells in autoimmune diseases and lymphoproliferations. His studies have yielded 150 original articles and reviews which have contributed to improve the understanding of the characterization of B cell functions in autoimmunity and most particularly in Sjögren's syndrome and the contribution of BAFF to autoimmunity. His research group perpetuate the platform of immunopathology and immunotherapy dedicated to the study of normal and pathological B cells. He has studied different models such as autoimmune diseases (Sjögren’s syndrome, systemic lupus erythematosus, rheumatoid arthritis), lymphoproliferative disorders (chronic lymphocytic leukemia), kidney graft rejection and periodontal diseases from upstream approaches (epigenetics and autoimmunity, the genetic control of BAFF, calcium signaling, regulatory B cells) to downstream approaches (multicenter clinical trials, IVIg, valorization).

Dr. Edward Schwarz is the Burton Professor of Orthopaedics and Director of the Center for Musculoskeletal Research at the University of Rochester Medical Center, in Rochester, NY. His laboratory focuses on inflammatory bone loss, such as that seen in rheumatoid arthritis, infections, tumor metastasis and wear debris-induced osteolysis around loose prosthetic implants. Dr. Schwarz is also a leader in orthopaedic biologic therapy, for which his lab has developed a novel passive immunization for MRSA and bone targeted antibiotics. Dr. Schwarz's lab is also interested in developing translational in vivo imaging outcome measures include near infrared imaging of lymphatic flow to detect arthritic flare, cone beam CT to assess bone healing in patients with orthopaedic implants, and intravital microscopy of bone infections.

Dr. Zahi Touma, MD, Ph.D. is an associate professor of medicine, clinician scientist with the University of Toronto and scientist with the Krembil Research Institute and Schroeder Arthritis Institute. His research is focused on patients with SLE and measurement science with a particular interest in the assessment of disease activity, patient reported outcomes and cognitive function. He is the director of the Lupus Program at UHN. Another major focus of his research is the assessment of cognitive impairment in patients with SLE. In 2015, Prof. Touma established the NeuroLupus Program, which consists of a multidisciplinary team of experts in MRI medical biophysics, psychometrics, neuropsychology, neurology, psychiatry, occupational sciences, measurement and bioinformatics with the goal of developing improved methods of identifying cognitive impairment in SLE and understanding its course over time and impact on health-related quality of life and productivity. He is the ACR methodologist guiding the Giant Cell Arteritis group in the development of GCA response criteria for RCTs. He is also a co-chair of the SLE OMERACT working group, aiming to update the core domain set and instruments in SLE. A number of peer-reviewed publications including a book, several book chapters and editorials are to his credit. He is often invited to present in national and international meetings in the fields of rheumatology and measurement.

She also served as the nutrition program coordinator at Lebanese International University. In addition, served as a co-consultant for the herbal and dietary supplement committee at the Lebanese Ministry of Health for several years. She joined the Beirut Arab University in 2010, and currently serving as an assistant professor at the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics in the Faculty of Health Sciences and actively involved in nutrition-related research and in the development of outreach nutrition education interventions in community service.
