Professor Arduino A Mangoni trained in Cardiology, Clinical Pharmacology and General Medicine in Milan, Boston and London. He was awarded a PhD in Pharmacology at King’s College, University of London, in 2003. He was appointed Senior Lecturer (2003-2007) and Associate Professor (2007-2009) in Clinical Pharmacology at Flinders University before taking up the Chair in Medicine of Old Age at the University of Aberdeen, UK (2010-2012). In 2013 he was appointed Strategic Professor of Clinical Pharmacology and Head of Department at Flinders University. In 2015, he became Associate Dean and Head, Flinders Medical Science and Technology. He plays a key role in the regular review of the Australian Hypertension guidelines and has contributed to the development of the SIGN guidelines on the Management of Chronic Pain, released in December 2013. His research interest include metabolomics and ageing, drug discovery and geriatric clinical pharmacology. Professor Mangoni has published over 140 refereed publications. Arduino Mangoni is a clinical academic, Professor and Head of the Department of Clinical Pharmacology and Associate Dean and Head, Flinders Medical Science and Technology, in the School of Medicine at Flinders University in Adelaide.

He initially joined the UK Medicines Control Agency (now MHRA) and was subsequently involved in the clinical development of neurology and psychiatry products at major pharmaceutical companies, first in European Regulatory Affairs and Drug Safety, and latterly in Global Clinical Development. During his time in the industry, he worked on the development of molecules throughout its life cycle, including the first-in-human studies, not only in neuroscience but also in other therapeutic areas, such as cardiometabolic disorders.

His main research focus in the laboratory is the molecular and cellular pharmacology that culminates in drug discovery. He is also involved in teaching Medical students and graduate and undergraduate level courses and has garnered several teaching awards.

He has 18+ years of experience in scholarly activities and research projects on pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of biotech-derived drug products, and more recently, working on the pharmacogenomics of cardiovascular drugs. His research has been supported by multiple NIH grants. He is the Key Activity Leader of the RCMI Center for Genomics in Health Disparities and Rare Diseases. Dr. Duconge has authored more than 75 research articles, reviews and book chapters.

He is professor at the KU Leuven (department of development and regeneration) and is clinical consultant at the Sophia’s Children’s Hospital, Rotterdam, the Netherlands. His research is focused on developmental perinatal pharmacology, has been supported by European funding (Albino study), and national grants (FWO, IWT-SBO) and has resulted in about 280 PubMed citations. He is member of the Royal Academy of Medicine of Belgium, president of the European Society of Developmental Pharmacology and section head clinical pharmacology of the European Society of Pediatric Research.

Professor Michel Bourin was a Professor of Pharmacology at the University of Nantes (1985 to 2011). After completing his pharmacist and medical training at Tours University, he was awarded degrees in neuropsychopharmacology, clinical pharmacology and general pharmacology in Paris, and he then completed his psychiatric training in Nantes. Since 1988, Professor Bourin has been the Head of Research: Neurobiology of Anxiety and Depression. He has also served as an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Edmonton and visiting professor at the University of Craiova. He is now working as a psychiatrist in the centre for mentally handicapped adults in Montredon. He is Doctor Honoris Causa of the Universities of Craiova and Tartu.

Loghman-Hakim Hospital Poison Center is the main referral hospital for poisoned patients in Tehran and is managed by Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences. Between 24000 and 27000 intoxicated patients refer to this center annually, of whom approximately 10000–12000 are hospitalized. Loghman hospital supposed to be the biggest in-patient clinical toxicology center of the world. His educational background in forensic medicine and working in this unique hospital has given him a broad base to deal with a number of social issues such as substance abuse and poisoning are his every-day practice, which are reflected in more than 200 published English abstracts and articles in scientific journals and international congresses.

The expertise in pharmacology is further utilized in CBML regarding the development of innovative personalized eHealth services for achieving optimum disease management and therapy outcome. He has more than 25 years of drug development experience with small biotech and large pharma companies including JNJ and Yamanouchi (now Astellas). He is board-certified clinical pharmacologist and licensed pharmacist with a PhD from Leiden University. He is member of various professional organizations, co-organizer of various scientific conferences, and is first author/co-author in over 30 publications in peer-reviewed journals or book chapters
