Dr. Varon is the Chief of Critical Care Services at the Foundation Surgical Hospital and past Chief of Staff at the University General Hospital at Houston. He is the professor of acute and continuing care at the University of Texas, Houston and a clinical professor of Medicine at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. He is a professor of medicine, surgery and emergency medicine at several universities. Dr. Varon is board-certified in internal medicine, critical care, pulmonary diseases and geriatrics and has added qualification in emergency medicine and sleep disorders. As an avid researcher, Dr. Varon has contributed more than 700 peer-reviewed journal articles, 10 full text books, and 10 dozen book chapters to the literature. He co-described the hyponatremia associated with extreme exercise syndrome also known as “Varon-Ayus Syndrome” Dr. Varon has lectured in over 60 different countries around the world.
