Prof. Atta-ur-Rahman, Ph.D. in organic chemistry from Kings College, University of Cambridge (1968), has 1235 international publications in several fields of organic chemistry including, 349 books published largely by major U.S. and European presses. He was elected as Fellow of Royal Society (London) (2006) and won the prestigious UNESCO Science Prize (1999).
Prof. Atta-ur-Rahman was conferred honorary D.Sc. degrees by many leading world universities including the University of Cambridge and appointed an Honorary Life Fellow of Kings College, University of Cambridge. The Austrian government honoured him with its high civil award (“Grosse Goldene Ehrenzeischen am Bande") (2007). He is Professor Emeritus at the University of Karachi, Pakistan. Prof. Atta-ur-Rahman was appointed Academician (Foreign Member) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (2015). He won the “Friendship Award of China” (2014) and was conferred the highest scientific award of China, the International Science & Technology Cooperation Award, by President Xi Jinping (2020). He was bestowed with the International Scientific Corporation Award (2014) and the “Einstein Professorship” by the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) (2013). Sir John Bertrand Gurdon, FRS, FMedSci, MAE (born on 2nd October, 1933), is an English developmental biologist and is best known for his pioneering research in nuclear transplantation and cloning. Sir Gurdon was made a Fellow of the Royal Society (FRS) in 1971, and was knighted in 1995. In 2004, the Wellcome Trust/Cancer Research UK Institute for Cell Biology and Cancer was renamed in his honour as The Gurdon Institute. In 2005, he was elected as an Honorary Member of the American Association of Anatomists. Sir Gurdon was awarded the 2009 Albert Lasker Basic Medical Research award, and, in 2014, delivered the Harveian Oration at the Royal College of Physicians. In 2012, Sir Gurdon was awarded, jointly with Dr. Shinya Yamanaka, the Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine for, “the discovery that mature cells can be reprogrammed to become pluripotent.” His Nobel Lecture was called, “The Egg and the Nucleus: A Battle for Supremacy.”

Dr. Christos Savopoulos received his PhD in 2002 form the Medical School, Aristotle University of
Thessaloniki. He currently serves as a Professor of Internal Medicine at the Aristotle University of
Thessaloniki. He also serves as the Head of 1st Medical Propaedeutic Department of Internal Medicine
at AHEPA University Hospital. He was one of the principal establishers of a Stroke Unit in the University
Hospital of AHEPA, Thessaloniki Greece and thereafter the Head of this Stroke Unit. Under his direction
this Unit has started to offer thrombolysis treatment and this happened for the first time in this hospital.
He is a member of 16 three-member advisory committee of doctoral theses (in the 5 as a supervisor)
and he participated in 9 PhD Examination Committees doctoral theses. He is a member of 17 Greek or
International Medical Scientific Societies, Associations or Working Groups, in fact founding 4 of them, in
1 of the Board member for 2 consecutive terms in 1 member of audit committee. He has around 140
publications in international journals covered by PubMed & Scopus. His authorship also includes
the writing of 27 books or book chapters.

Prof. Moshe Schaffer is a Senior Consultant in Barzilai Medical Centre, Dept. of Oncology, affiliated to Faculty of Health Sciences of the Negev, Ben- Gurion University, Israel. He studied Medicine at the University of Padova, Italy, and did his Residency in Radiation Oncology at the University of Goettingen, and the University of Munich, Germany. He has a German and Israeli Board Certificate. He has experience in research and clinical working in Radiation Oncology. The main fields are selective and specific Radiosensitizers, Hyperthermia, and Photodynamic Therapy. Previously, he served as a Deputy Chairman at the Department of Radiation Oncology, University of Munich, Germany. He has a PhD degree from Munich University. Notably, he has authored more than 65 manuscripts, 12 patents, 10 book chapters, and is an Assoc. Editor in 4 scientific Journals. Prof. Schaffer is also an adjunct senior faculty member at the Faculty of Health Sciences, Ben Gurion University, of the Negev, Israel, and teaches Radiation Therapy and Radiation Biology.

Dr Shu graduated from Hunan Medical University with PhD in Pathobiology (1999) and was
then awarded a Wellcome Trust Travelling Fellowship to work at the University of Glasgow

July 2001, he moved to MRC Human Genetics Unit, Edinburgh, to work as an Investigator
Scientist (2001-2005) then Senior Investigator Scientist, focusing on the disease
mechanisms of retinitis pigmentosa (RP) and age related macular degeneration (AMD). In
February 2010 he joined the Department of Biological and Biomedical Sciences, Glasgow
Caledonian University, to continue his studies on the pathogenesis of retinal degeneration.
