I hold a PhD in Translational Medicine from Federal University of Sao Paulo and I am currently working as a post-doctoral scholar at University of Chicago. During my PhD program I worked as a Lab Tech Research at Rush University, in Chicago. I have great interest in studies related to obesity, diabetes, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, liver-related studies and endocrinology studies. Lately, I have been studying the importance of Kruppel-like Zinc Fingers in the liver and its relationship with lipid metabolism. I have more than ten years of experience working in a lab environment as a researcher, and have published 13 peer-reviewed scientific papers and review articles.

Dr. Prasant Kumar Jena received his BSc in Biological Sciences and MSc in Biotechnology from Berhampur University. Later, he obtained a Ph.D. in Biotechnology from Nirma University (India). He has more than 9 years of research experience in studying the impact of diet and gut microbiota on the development of metabolic diseases including obesity, diabetes, and carcinogenesis. In his graduate studies, he developed a sugar diet-induced diabetes rat model to study the effect of microbiota and probiotic intervention in lipid and carbohydrate metabolism. Currently, Dr. Jena is working at University of California Davis as a researcher.

director for the certificate course in diabetes in India. Currently, he is serving as an Additional Professor and head at
the division of diabetes and metabolism in the department of medicine at All India Institute of Medical Sciences,
Rishikesh. Dr. Kant was the one to develop the department of medicine at AIIMS Rishikesh. He is also currently the
secretary for South East Asian Foundation and the editor of South East Asian Medical Clinics. He is international
advisor to the journal of diabetes and endocrine society of Nepal and also journal of public health and holistic
medicine.
