Alan Daugherty completed a BSc in Pharmacology at Sunderland Polytechnic and received his PhD and DSc from the University of Bath. He moved to Washington University in St. Louis for fellowship training. Subsequently, he was appointed to the faculty at Washington University where he continued his studies on mechanisms of lipoprotein modification and immune function on the development of atherosclerosis. In 1997, he moved to the University of Kentucky. While performing a collaborative study with Lisa Cassis on the role of hypertension in development of atherosclerosis, they serendipitously developed a model of aortic aneurysms in both the abdominal and thoracic region. Alan Daugherty is the Linda and Jack Gill Professor of Preventive Cardiology, Director of the Saha Cardiovascular Research Center, Chair of the Department of Physiology, Senior Associate Dean for Research in the College of Medicine, and Associate Vice President for Research. He is the currently the Editor-in-Chief of Arteriosclerosis, Thrombosis, and Vascular Biology.

Dr. Doyle obtained his doctorate degree from the University of Nottingham, England in 1983. At Nottingham he studied under Nobel Laureate Sir Peter Mansfield, where he focused on rapid imaging. He is now an adjunct Professor of Medicine at Temple University, Philadelphia. He was a founding member of the Society of Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance. His main research focus is on the application of Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance Imaging to better understand and diagnose cardiovascular disease. He has over 50 publications and book chapters, including the CMR teaching book Cardiovascular MRI Tutorial: Lectures and Learning.

Dr. Russo, later joined Cardiac Arrhythmia Center at Centro Cardiologico Monzino as a fellow first, then as a cardiac electrophysiologist in EP Lab until 2017. In 2014, Dr. Russo received a PhD degree in physiopathology of heart failure at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart. Currently, she is a cardiologist in the Cardiovascular Department at Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza IRCCS, Italy.

Dr Uzoma N. Ibebuogu is currently an Associate Professor of Medicine at the Division of Cardiovascular diseases and an Associate Professor of Preventive Medicine at the College of Medicine, University of Tennessee Health Science Center. Dr Ibebuogu obtained his medical degree from the prestigious College of Medicine, University of Ibadan, Nigeria. He completed his Internal Medicine residency and Cardiology fellowship at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta and subsequently underwent Interventional Cardiology fellowship and structural heart disease training at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center/the University of Los Angeles, California program. He has authored peer-reviewed articles on coronary atherosclerosis, which is one of his areas of interest, particularly in smokers and diabetic patients. His other research interests involve transcatheter aortic valve replacement therapies and ethnic disparities in the clinical presentation of acute myocardial infarction.
