Consolato M. Sergi is a Full Professor of Pathology and Pediatrics, University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada. He obtained his MD degree with honors, Pediatrics residency, and Fellowship in Pediatric Pathology from the University of Genoa, Italy, did his M.Sc. in Public Health from Austria, and FRCPC (Pathology) from the Royal College in Ottawa. Dr. Sergi’s areas of interest are congenital heart disease, metabolic diseases, gastrointestinal/biliary diseases, carcinogenesis (bone/liver), and mitochondrial DNA‐related cardiomyopathies.

Biography of Stefano Fiorucci
Prof. Stefano Fiorucci is a professor of Gastroenterology at the University of Perugia. He is the author of over 350 full papers. He is the director of gastroenterology unit in the Department of Surgical and Biomedical sciences. Professor Fiorucci investigates FXR Nuclear Receptors (Farnesoid-X-Receptor), PXR (Pregnane-X-Receptor) and PPARs (Peroxisome Proliferator-Activated Receptors) and the role they play in the onset and evolution of certain pathologies, such as chronic inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), Crohn's disease and several liver disorders (NASH, cholestasis). During his career he has published over 300 manuscripts in major international scientific journals.
