Xiaobo Liu Environmental Engineering Program Guangdong Technion-Israel Institute of Technology Shantou |
Dr. Xiaobo Liu is a professor of microbiology in the School of Environmental and Biological Engineering, Nanjing University of Science and Technology, Nanjing, China. He received his PhD degree in Microbial Molecular Ecology from The University of Hong Kong and had a visiting research in biofilm biotechnology in Dr. Bin Cao’s lab at Singapore Centre for Environmental Life Sciences Engineering (SCELSE), Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. He also worked as a research fellow at Guangdong Technion-Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT). His research experience covers the fields of environmental microbiology, biodeterioration, biofilm control, biocatalysis for biosynthesis and biodegradation, and microbial electrochemistry. His research interests focus on understanding the signals and processes that promote biofilm formation, with the aim of developing new strategies for tackling biofilm-related industrial and environmental problems, including fouling or contamination of microorganisms inside food industrial pipelines, biofilm-mediated biodeterioration of materials, and biofilm-based catalysis for biotechnological applications.
