Dr. Liakoppolus was born in Athens, Greece in 1968. He received his MD degree
from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece and PhD degree from the
Democritus University of Thrace, Greece. He is currently an Associate Professor of
Nephrology at the Division of Nephrology and Hypertension, 1 st Department of
Internal Medicine, AHEPA Hospital, Medical School, Aristotle University of
Thessaloniki, Greece. Currently, he serves as a member (representing ISN) of the
World Kidney Day Steering Committee.
Additionally, he is actively involved in many Committees of the Medical School of
our University (PhD Committee, MSc Committee, Bioethics Committee, Educational
Committee etc) and in the Administration Committee (RESTART) of the Aristotle
University of Thessaloniki and is also the Vice-Chairman of the Research Ethics
Committee of the University of Peloponnese, Greece.

Valérie Metzinger-Le Meuth obtained her PhD in Biological Sciences from the University of
Rennes 1, France and was a postdoctoral fellow from the Imperial Cancer Research Fund (ICRF) in the
Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine of Oxford (UK). She is an Associate Professor in University
Sorbonne Paris Nord (USPN), teaching in BSc and in Master degree with a focus on Therapy and
Cardiology. She is working in UMRS INSERM 1148 LVTS in collaboration with HEMATIM Laboratory
(Amiens) on non-coding RNAs implicated in the physiopathology of chronic kidney disease and
cardiovascular disorders-associated including vascular/valvular calcification and anemia.
