J.-J. Zhang

I obtained my Ph.D degree in microbiology in Chinese Academy of Sciences, China (2006), and have my postdoc training in Indiana University School of medicine, USA.

My current research focused on the signaling mechanism as well as the pathogenesis of important bacterial causative agents. Specifically, my current project is studying 1) the regulatory mechanisms of sigma-54 (RpoN)-dependent gene expression in Borrelia and Leptospira, 2) the second messengers, c-di- GMP/AMP, signaling systems in Borrelia, 3) type III gene regulation mechanism in Yersinia. The aims is to explore diverse strategies of how microbes response to the stress conditions and environmental changes, and elucidate and characterize the mechanisms of the bacterial infections.
