Dunn received his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of California at Santa Barbara in 1971 and did postdoctoral work at the National Institutes of Health from 1971-1974. He joined the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in 1974 and moved through the ranks to his current title. He served as President of the American Peptide Society from 2011-2013 and was President of the International Proteolysis Society. He is the Editor-in-Chief of two Bentham journals, Protein and Peptide Letters, for research reports and mini-reviews, and Current Protein and Peptide Science, which publishes exclusively review papers.

Currently, Dr. Weber is an Associate Professor of Molecular Biotechnology at the Turkish-German University (Istanbul, Turkey). Dr. Weber has published more than a number of scientific publications and has served on the editorial boards of a number of journals and was also appointed as Associate Editor of this journal (Protein & Peptide Letters), published by Bentham Science Publishers.

Prof. M. Akhter Hossain completed his Ph.D. in 2001 at Tokyo Institute of Technology (Japan) and undertook postdoctoral studies at Joseph Fourier University (France) and the Howard Florey Institute (Australia). He has been the Head of the Insulin Peptides Laboratory since 2012 at the now- Florey Institute of Neuroscience and Mental Health, University of Melbourne. He has published > 115 papers from 2000 to mid-2018 in the key international journals including the Journal of American Chemical Society, Angewandte Chemie, and Chemical Science. Five of his discoveries have been patented. His research group is interested in designing peptidomimetics and developing novel chemical methods for preparing therapeutic insulin and insulin-like peptides.

Montecucco, working on the intoxication mechanism of diphtheria toxin in collaboration with Dr. R. Rappuoli. In 1991, he became the researcher at the Department of Biomedical Sciences, University of Padova. 1993-1994. Fellow scientist, Laboratory for Molecular Cell Biology, UCL, UK, working on intracellular trafficking of bacterial toxins with Prof. D. Cutler and Prof. C. Hopkins. In 1998, he became Professor of General Pathology, University of Bari. In 2001, he became PI, Department of Biomedical Science, University of Padova. His teaching activities include General Pathology, Immunology, Immunological Biotechnology, and Nanobiotechnology. His main research projects are in the field of bacterial toxins and adhesions action mechanisms, nanoparticles and peptides in medicine and pathology. He is the author in about 92 scientific publications and inventor of two patents.

Dr. Predrag Cudic earned his Ph.D, degree in Chemistry from the University of Zagreb, College of Science, Croatia, in 1996. He then joined the group of Prof. Jean-Marie Lehn, winner of the 1987 Nobel Prize in Chemistry, at the Collège de France in Paris, France, as a Postdoctoral Research Associate. At the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Cudic's research was focused on the total solid-phase synthesis of a novel peptide antibiotic ramoplanin, its mechanism of action and structure-activity relationship. His research interests at that time were focused on the design and synthesis of biomimetic carbohydrate receptors, and solid-phase synthesis and biological evaluation of nonribosomal peptide natural products.

Dr. Ramos is a Full Professor in the Federal University of Ceará Brazil. He holds a Doctorate in Protein Biochemistry from the Federal University of Ceará, Brazil with a one and a half year at Université Paul Sabatier, Toulouse, France and a post-doctoral stage at Université des Sciences et Technologies de Lille, France. For nearly 20 years he has studied plant proteins in terms of chemistry, structure, functions and biotechnological applications. Currently he investigates the role of latex proteins in plant defense against enemies and the potential use of latex proteins as biotechnological tools in agriculture and medicine.

Tim Kamerzell received his PhD in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from The University of Kansas in Lawrence, KS where he studied the relationships between protein dynamics and thermodynamic stability. In 2007, Kamerzell joined Genentech, Inc. a South San Francisco based biotechnology company in the Department of Late-Stage Pharmaceutical Development where he helped design protein-based therapeutics. While at Genentech, he focused on understanding the chemical and physical mechanisms of protein degradation including methods to prevent them. Kamerzell subsequently obtained a medical degree from The University of Kansas and completed Internal Medicine Residency training at Washington University in St Louis.

In 2002, she was appointed as Assistant Professor and in 2012 as Associate Professor, in the same University. In 2014, she became Full Professor of Biochemistry. Her current research interests include the structural functional characterization of amphibian skin AMPs and their derivatives for the development of new anti-infective agents. She was an invited speaker at several international conferences.

He held a professorship at the University of Canterbury before returning to the University of Adelaide in 2007, where he is currently the professor of Chemistry and node director of the ARC Centre of Excellence for Nanoscale Biophotonics. In Adelaide he co-founded an Adelaide-based company (Calpain Therapeutics) to develop macrocyclic protease inhibitors as a potential treatment for cataract and other conditions. He was the Past Head of School of Chemistry and Physics at the University of Adelaide and recent recipient of the Royal Australian Chemical Institute Adrien Albert Prize and the Alexander R. Matzuk Prize and Lecture in Drug Discovery Baylor College of Medicine, Houston.

Anupam Bandyopadhyay completed M.Sc. in Chemistry from Banaras Hindu University in 2007. After a short period of R&D job, he completed Ph.D. degree from IISER-Pune in 2012 under the supervision of Prof. H. N. Gopi. To gain better proficiency in biochemistry and chemical biology, he joined Boston College as a Postdoctoral Fellow in 2013 with Prof. Jianmin Gao and later in 2016 with Prof. Bradley Pentelute’s lab at MIT. He returned to India in 2018 for a short period of bridging postdoc position with Prof. Balram’s group at NCBS-TIFR, and since January 2019 he is appointed as an Assistant Professor at the Indian Institute of Technology, Ropar, India. His current research includes engineering peptides for disease-related biomolecule recognition pertained to diagnostics and therapeutics discovery.

Biological analyses of nuclear & cytosolic O-GlcNAc, and OGT enzyme have been performed to identify cellular function of sugar residues on polypeptide backbone.Regulation of OGT enzyme activity via posttranslational modifications, such as S-nitrosylation & S-denitrosylation have been characterized in innate immune system and Alzheimer’s Disease.

Dr. Swagata Dasgupta is a Professor of Chemistry at the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, India. She completed her Ph.D. from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, USA. Her research interests in protein chemistry involve protein–protein and protein-small molecule interactions and protein structure analyses. She has contributed to teaching and research at IIT Kharagpur for the past 20 years and has over 100 publications. Her pioneering work has been on polyphenols and their interactions with biomacromolecules. Recent work on fibrillation of proteins has been initiated to study amyloid fibrils, the hallmark of neurodegenerative diseases. The unique feature of her work is the blend of experimental protein chemistry with in-depth structural analysis.

Kai Hilpert is an associate Professor (Reader) of Infection and Immunity at the Institute of Infection and Immunity at St. George’s University of London. He has 20 years of experience in the synthesis of peptide libraries, screening and optimization of peptides. Since 2003, he works on the design and optimization of short antimicrobial peptides. He has been working close with the industry and for the last two years is a founder and director of a university spin-off company TiKa Diagnostics Ltd. that exploits synthetic peptides developed in his laboratory. He has co-organized the International Meeting on Antimicrobial Peptides (IMAP) in London (twice), Leipzig and Graz. In addition, he is co-author of the article "Alternatives to antibiotics--a pipeline portfolio review " published in Lancet Infectious Diseases that won the Elsevier Atlas award. In the last years, he has intensively worked on optimizing peptide libraries against multidrug-resistant bacteria, mainly Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus and Mycobacterium tuberculosis.

Dr Giuseppe Grande is MD, Endocrinologist and Ph.D. in “Sciences of nutrition, metabolism, aging and gender disease”. He has attended the 2nd level master in “Andrology and Reproductive Medicine” and the post-graduate courses in "Reproductive andrology", "Andrology and Reproductive Medicine" and in "New technologies in molecular medicine”. Dr. Grande works at the Fondazione Policlinico “A. Gemelli” IRCCS, Rome at the International Scientific Institute (ISI) for the study of human fertility and infertility. He is author of 27 scientific papers in peer-reviewed international journals. His research activity is focused in studying the translational applications of clinical proteomics in endocrinology and in reproduction.

The Rockefeller Foundation awarded him a prestigious fellowship under the Rice Biotechnology Program for Developing Countries to research at the Waksman Institute of Microbiology, Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey. His research of first-of-its-kind was published in Nature Biotechnology. Dr Khan served as the founding group leader of Chloroplast Transformation and Biopharming, and head of Biotech Interdisciplinary Division at NIBGE, and is currently serving as the director of the Center of Agricultural Biochemistry and Biotechnology (CABB), University of Agriculture, Faisalabad, Pakistan. Dr Khan has supervised more than 100 PhD candidates, MPhil students, and researchers. He has published more than 100 articles in high impact journals, including Nature, and is the author of several book chapters and books.
