G. Perry

George Perry (born April 12, 1953 in Lompoc, California) is a neuroscientist recognized in the field of Alzheimer's disease research particularly for his work in oxidative stress. Dr. Perry has studied at many universities and holds multiple degrees including a Bachelor of Arts degree in Zoology from the University of California Santa Barbara and a PhD in Marine Biology from the Scrippss Institution of Oceanography at San Diego. He is distinguished as one of the top Alzheimer’s disease researchers by Expertscape with over 1000 publications, more than 66,000 citations (H=129), one of the top 100 most-cited scientists in Neuroscience & Behavior and one of the top 25 scientists in free radical research. Dr. Perry is a Semmes Foundation Distinguished University Chair in Neurobiology and is an active participant in many other scientific associations. He is an elected member of the Academies of Sciences of Mexico, Portugal, and Spain. In addition, Perry is an Editor of numerous scientific journals including Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease which he founded in 1998. Today, Perry continues his love for research while working as Dean of the College of Sciences at The University of Texas at San Antonio.

D.J. Waxman

Dr. David Waxman is Professor of Biology, Medicine and Biomedical Engineering at Boston University. He received his PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Harvard University and postdoctoral training in enzymology in the Department of Chemistry at MIT. He is an active member of many journal editorial boards, and is a frequent speaker at major symposia in the fields of cancer pharmacology, drug metabolism, and molecular endocrinology. He has made seminal contributions to our understanding of hepatic cytochrome P450 enzymes, their role in drug metabolism and cancer therapeutics, and to the role of growth hormone in regulating sex differences in liver gene expression.

J.F. Honek

Dr. Honek is a Professor in the Department of Chemistry, University of Waterloo, Canada. He obtained his B.Sc./Ph.D. degrees at McGill University. His Ph.D. research (supervisor: Dr. Bernard Belleau), focused on the design and synthesis of sulfur-based heterocyclic analogs of the anthracycline antibiotics. Postdoctoral research (MIT; supervisor: Dr. Christopher Walsh) explored the enzyme mechanisms involved in microbial methane production. Dr. Honek’s research is focused on the biological chemistry of the carbon-sulfur bond and on protein structure and function. He is the author of numerous publications including a recent textbook (Biochemical Pharmacology by Palmer, Chan, Dieckmann & Honek, (2012) Wiley-VCH). He is the recipient of the Canadian Society for Chemistry Bernard Belleau Award (2014) for distinguished contributions to the field of medicinal chemistry.

Jean Michel Brunel was graduated from the School of Chemistry of Marseille (France) in 1991. Dr. Huixiao Hong is a senior Scientist at National Center for Toxicological Research (NCTR), US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Arkansas, USA, working on the scientific bases for regulatory application and development of genomics biomarkers. F. Ivy Carroll received his B.S. degree in chemistry from Auburn University and his Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of North Carolina. G.M. Keserũ

György M. Keserű obtained his Ph.D. at Budapest, Hungary and joined Sanofi-Aventis CHINOIN heading a chemistry research lab. He moved to Gedeon Richter in 1999 as the Head of Computer-aided Drug Discovery. He earned D.Sc. from the Hungarian Academy of Science in 2003 and he was invited for a research professorship at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics. Since 2007 he was appointed as the Head of Discovery Chemistry at Gedeon Richter. He served as a director general of the Research Center for Natural Sciences (RCNS) at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. He contributed to the discovery of the antipsychotic VraylarR (RGH-188, cariprazine) that has been approved by the US FDA in 2015 and marketed in the US from 2016. From 2015 he is heading the Medicinal Chemistry Research Group at RCNS. His research interests include medicinal chemistry, drug design, and in silico ADME. He has published over 170 papers and more than 10 books and book chapters.

Dr Ling is Professor at the Department of Anatomy, National University of Singapore. He has more than four decades of teaching experience in Human Anatomy, and was the head of the department from 1998-2008. He pioneered the research on microglia in 1970s who first characterized the ultrastructure of microglia and demonstrated experimentally that microglia originate from the blood monocytes. Recent focus is on the roles of activated microglia in neuroinflammation. He obtained his PhD from the University of Cambridge and was awarded Doctor of Science by the National University of Singapore. He was conferred an Emeritus Professorship in 2013.
