Dr. Nikolaos Labrou is a Full Professor with tenure and Director of the Enzyme Technology Lab at the Agricultural University of Athens, Greece. His research takes place where molecular enzymology, biochemistry, and pharmaceutical biotechnology meets and covers aspects of the entire range from pure to applied science. The principal area of his research program has been the mining, design, and exploitation of biocatalytic diversity. Dr. Labrou has authored more than 160 peer-reviewed articles in leading international journals and has edited six books. He is on the Editorial Board of several scientific journals and serves as a reviewer for multiple national and international grant agencies. He has established a strong global academic and industrial network and maintains international collaborations with several research groups at various institutions across the world.

His research has included the moleculr biology of gene expression, Golgi glycosyltransferase, oncognenesis, cancer metastasis and angiogenesis. Vladimir P. Torchilin, Ph.D., D.Sc. is a University Distinguished Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Director, Center for Pharmaceutical Biotechnology and Nanomedicine, Northeastern University, Boston. His interests include drug delivery and targeting, nanomedicine, multifunctional and stimuli-sensitive pharmaceutical nanocarriers, biomedical polymers, experimental cancer therapy. He has published more than 400 original papers, more than 150 reviews and book chapters, wrote and edited 12 books, and holds more than 40 patents. Google Scholar shows more than 44,000 citations of his papers with H-index of 96. He is Editor-in-Chief of Current Drug Discovery Technologies, Drug Delivery, and OpenNano, Co-Editor of Current Pharmaceutical Biotechnology and on the Editorial Boards of many other journals. He received more than $30 M from the governmental and industrial sources in research funding. He has multiple honors and awards and in 2011, Times Higher Education ranked him number 2 among top world scientists in pharmacology for the period of 2000-2010.

His main research achievements are regarding the role of T-cell apoptosis in neuroinflammatory diseases and the study of proinflammatory genes and cytokines in neurodegenerative diseases. Since then, several studies have considered AZT for telomerase inhibition and have led to potential clinical strategies for anticancer therapy. His current research interests include medicinal chemistry, new antimicrobial materials; enzyme chemistry and biotechnology; and pharmaceutical formulations. He has authored over 310 scientific papers and 21 issued U.S. patents (plus many pending), has given over 370 invited presentations, including many named lectures all over the world, and is a member of 12 journal editorial boards. Dr. Klibanov has received numerous prestigious professional awards, including the Leo Friend Award, the Ipatieff Prize, the Marvin J. Johnson Award, and the Arthur C. Cope Scholar Award, all from the American Chemical Society, as well as the International Enzyme Engineering Prize. Dr. Qadir has increased the efficacy of many drugs with the use of nanotechnology and polymer-technology. Dr. Qadir has identified different biological and pharmacological pathways which are important for diagnosis and management of different diseases.
