Dr. Juang is a professor at the Chang Gung University (CGU), Taiwan. Before joining CGU in February 2014, he has worked at the Yuan Ze University, Taiwan since August 1989. Dr. Juang has published more than 300 SCI papers. He is now an Associate Editor of Journal of the Taiwan Institute of Chemical Engineers, an Editorial Board Member of Separation and Purification Technology, and the Editor-in-Chief of Membrane Water Treatment, which are all SCI indexed. Dr. Juang is also the Founding Editor of this journal. His research covers sciences and technology of separation processes, and their applications in biochemical and environmental engineering.

T.C. Ling

Tau Chuan LING is currently a full professor at the Institute of Biological Sciences, University of Malaya, Malaysia. He is a Chartered Engineer of the Engineering Council, United Kingdom (CEng) and has been a member of the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) since 2011. He received his PhD in Chemical Engineering from Birmingham University, United Kingdom. He has more than 20 years of research experience in downstream processing and bioprocess engineering. To date he has published more than 130 ISI cited articles in international journals.

E. J. Alameda

E.J. Alameda was graduated from the University of Granada in 1975. She obtained her PhD in 1980 and became full professor of Chemical Engineering in the Science Faculty at the same University in 1996. She was head of the Chemical Engineering Department (1997-2012). At present, she also directs the “Surfactants, Enzymes and Emulsions” research group. Her main research areas are: enzymes, kinetic enzymatic , biodegradation and toxicity of surfactants, emulsions, and the physical chemistry and applications of surfactants. She has nearly 36 years of experience in the research. She has published over 130 papers in different fields. She has participated or is participating in 18 research projects awarded by public institutions. Principal Investigator of 9 of the 18 projects. She has presented more than 100 communication in different national and international conferences. She has 6 national patents and 1 International presented. She has directed 13 doctoral theses and she has conducted 10 research contracts with companies, in 9 of which she has been responsible researcher.

Dr. Hyun Gyu Park is a Professor at the department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, KAIST, Korea. He received his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from KAIST in 1996. During the past 14 years after he joined the Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering Department at KAIST, he has published about 130 international papers in the prestigious journals including Angewandte, Nucleic Acid Research, Advanced Functional Materials, Small, ChemComm, Analytical Chemistry, and Biosensors and Bioelectronics. and holds 50 international or domestic patents. His research interests include nucleic acid bioengineering, microarray technology, electrochemical technology for biosensing, and nanobiotechnology. Now, he is serving as an editorial board member of Biotechnology Journal.

Dr. Vijay Kumar Thakur is currently a Research Lecturer in Manufacturing at the School of Aerospace, Transport and Manufacturing. His former appointments include being a Staff Scientist in the School of Mechanical and Materials Engineering at Washington State University, U.S.A, (2013-2016); Research Scientist in Temasek Laboratories at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (October 2009-2012), and a visiting Research Fellow in the Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering at LHU–Taiwan. He did his post doctorate in Materials Science & Engineering at Iowa State University and his Ph.D. in Polymer Science (2009) at the National Institute of Technology.

Prof Kim Clarke obtained a PhD and BScEng from the University of Cape Town and MScEng from the University of Birmingham and has approximately 20 years' experience in university research and teaching. Currently she leads a multidisciplinary research group in Bioprocess Engineering at Stellenbosch University in which a wide range bacterial, fungal and enzymic biological processes are researched in diverse operational and reactor configurations. She has authored a book on Bioprocess Engineering (Elsevier) as well as several scientific publications in leading international journals, and has presented her work at numerous conferences.

Dr. Pérez Guerra is an associated professor at the University of Vigo (Spain) where he teaches “Biochemistry” and “Air Quality Analysis”. He obtained a Ph.D. in Food Science and Technology from the University of Vigo in 1999. Dr. Pérez Guerra has authored 55 scientific papers and 16 book chapters, and coedited the book “Probiotics: Production, Evaluation and Uses in Animal Feed”. He has a great experience in the design, analysis and mathematical modelling of fermentation processes aimed to obtain high-added value products (distilled alcoholic beverages, functional foods and probiotics beverages).

Dr. S. K. Brar is Professor at Institut National de la Recherche Scientifique (Eau, Terre et Environnement, INRS-ETE), Québec, Canada. She graduated in Master’s in Organic Chemistry from National Chemical Laboratory, Pune, India with Master’s in Technology in Environmental Sciences and Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, Mumbai, India and a Ph.D. in Environmental Biotechnology from INRS, Quebec, Canada in 2007. After a short post-doctoral fellowship at McGill University, she started her career as Assistant Professor at INRS-ETE. Dr. Ma obtained his PhD from Philipps-University Marburg, Germany. He was a Max-Planck-Institute fellow and worked as a research associate at the University, and a postdoctoral fellow and then an assistant research scientist and a graduate faculty at the University of Georgia, United States. He is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biology at the University of Waterloo, Canada. Dr. Ma's research focuses on physiology, enzymology and alcohol metabolism of hyperthermophiles, a group of microorganisms growing optimally at 80°C and above or capable of growing at 90°C and above.

Professor M. Angeles Sanroman is the head of the Bioengineering & Sustainable Processes Group at the University of Vigo and member of ANEP-Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness in the Technology Transfer Area. Currently, main research lines carried out are biodegradation of recalcitrant organic compounds, solid state fermentation, enzymatic technology, bioreactors design and advanced oxidation technologies. The results of these research works have been published in more than 230 papers, 5 patents, 20 chapters of books and more than 350 research communications. She has collaborated in more than 50 research and innovation projects.

F. Valero

Dr. Francisco Valero is full professor of Chemical Engineering and Head of the Department of Chemical, Biological and Environmental Engineering at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (Spain). His research career has been focused on Biochemical Engineering, especially in the fields of Bioprocess Engineering, Production of Recombinant Proteins in the cell factory Pichia pastoris, monitoring modelling and control of bioprocesses and Applied Biocatalysis (lipases). He is coordinator of the Bioprocess Engineering and Applied Biocatalysis Research group, cofounder of the Biotechnology company Bioingenium and treasurer of the Spanish Biotechnology Society (SEBIOT. He has experience as project manager for public and private projects (36). He has published over 110 scientific papers in refereed journals, 12 book chapters. and supervisor of 20 PhD Thesis.

Dr. Banas is a Professor at the University of Iowa’s Iowa Institute for Oral Health Research in the College of Dentistry. Venko Beschkov, PhD, DSc was born in 1946 in Sofia, Bulgaria. The main directions of his interests are chemical and biochemical processes for environment protection and utilization of renewable energy sources. He participates in 50 scientific projects, supported by different sources. He published over 180 scientific papers, 2 monographs, 4 chapters in Encyclopaedia of Life Supporting Systems (EOLSS) and 2 chapters in selected issues. Over 1100 citations of his papers have been noted (h-index=20, G-index=31). J.S. Chang

Dr. Jo-Shu Chang is a University Chair Professor in Department of Chemical Engineering at National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), Taiwan. He received his Ph.D. degree from University of California, Irvine in 1993. His research interests cover biochemical engineering, environmental biotechnology and applied microbiology with a recent focus on microalgae-based CO2 reutilization, biofuels production, and biorefineries. He plays an important role in Taiwan’s biomass energy R&D and policy making. He also serves as executive committee member of Asia Federation of Biotechnology (AFOB). He recently became fellow of American Institute of Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE) in 2015 and has received numerous prestigious domestic and international academic awards. He has published nearly 350 SCI-indexed journal papers with a total citation of over 10,000 times. He also authored seven books and owns more than 40 patents.

A.K. Ray

Professor Ajay K. Ray, Chair of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering Department at Western University (London, Canada), has made seminal research contributions in industrial process modeling and optimization; development of solar photocatalysis; and advancement of simulated moving bed technology for reactive separation. Dr. Ray has contributed to enhance engineering knowledge by devising innovative approaches to enhance process performance for applications in energy, environment, food and health, the key challenges facing the world. Dr. Ray is a prolific author, having written a text book on Engineering Mathematics and over 170 research articles in archival journals. The impact of his work is evident from high h-index and citations received. He has mentored over 80 graduate students. He is member of the editorial board of many journals, recipient of the Research, Teaching and Faculty Scholars award, CrayQuest award, Distinguished Speakers award, and Distinguished Alumni award from Calcutta University.
