Dr. Taveres is currently Executive Director at Chemical Engineering Laboratory (LEQ). She has completed PhD in Engineering Sciences from Universidade do Minho in 1991. Team led by Prof. Teresa Tavares wins the 2007 PNIA with a new "Chromium Recovery and Reuse Process ". New chromate or dichromate fixation technology in a synthetic zeolite, using a bacterial biofilm, allowing the recovery of chromium. It is a process of treatment of liquid effluents (chromium is a very toxic pollutant, present in the waste water of various industries), making the sustained reintroduction of a pollutant in the industrial process.
