Claudiu T. Supuran

CLAUDIU T. SUPURAN is professor of medicinal chemistry at the Neurofarba Department, Section of Pharmaceutical and Nutriceutical Sciences, University of Florence, Italy. He has published more than 1250 papers, his Hirsch factor is h = 110; the number of citations since 1995 > 49800. His main research interest is on enzyme inhibitors, and especially carbonic anhydrase inhibitors, of which he discovered several new classes in the last years. One of the sulfonamides discovered in his group entered Phase I clinical trials in 2014 for the treatment of advanced, metastatic solid tumors. He is Editor-in-Chief of Expert Opinion on Therapeutic Patents, Journal of Enzyme Inhibition and Medicinal Chemistry, Current Enzyme Inhibition, etc. For the last 25 years the main interest of his research was focused on metallo-enzymes and their modulators of activity. In 2013 he was rated as the most cited scientists in Pharmacology & Toxicology by LabTimes (LabTimes 2013, 5, 38).

Erkan Alpsoy is professor of the Department of Dermatology and Venereology, Akdeniz University School of Medicine, Antalya-Turkey. He graduated from Akdeniz University School of Medicine Antalya, Turkey in 1988. After a two-year-compulsory servis, he completed dermatology and venereology residency program in the same institution in 1993. He became Assistant Clinical Professor of the same institution in 1994. In 1997, he was appointed associate professor, and in 2003 full professor.

Prof. Alpsoy’s research interests include Behçet’s disease and other vasculitis, psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, autoimmune bullous diseases, melanoma, Stevens-Johnson Syndrome and Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis.

Mohammed I. El-Gamal, Ph.D. got his B.Sc. degree in pharmaceutical Sciences at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Mansoura, Egypt in 2003 with "Excellent with honor" grade, first achiever. Then he received his M.Sc. degree in medicinal chemistry from the same college. He got his Ph.D. degree in medicinal chemistry in August 2012 from Korea University of Science and Technology, Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST), Republic of Korea. After that, he worked as a star postdoctoral fellow at KIST and assistant professor of medicinal chemistry at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Mansoura, Egypt. Mohammed I. El-Gamal, Ph.D. is the author of more than 50 publications in highly reputed journals. He got 3 patents, and presented more than 36 posters and 8 oral presentations in many international conferences in The Republic of Korea, United Arab Emirates, USA, Japan, The Netherlands, and Austria. He has peer-review more than 50 articles. And he has been an editorial board member in more than 13 international journals. He has been also a member of the Asian Council of Science Editors (ACSE). Mohammed I. El-Gamal, Ph.D. and his group have developed a new more efficient prodrug of Olmesartan (antihypertensive agent) which has been marketed in the Republic of Korea. And he is interested in anticancer, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial drug development.

She graduated cum laude in Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Technology at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Calabria. She attended Post-graduate School in Clinical Pathology. Then she had positions of Post-doctoral fellowship (2004-2005) and of Researcher (2005-2014) at Department of Pharmacy, Health and Nutritional Sciences of University of Calabria. Research interests include the development of analytical strategies for the qualitative and quantitative determination of constituents of extracts, isolation, structural characterization and the in vitro evaluation of biological activities of extracts and secondary metabolites of medicinal plants and plant foods. These investigations have been focused on the determination of antiproliferative activity against different human tumour cell lines, hypoglycaemic, antioxidant, antimicrobial, antihypertensive, and neuroprotective properties.

Professor Ladislav Kokoska currently works at the Faculty of Tropical AgriSciences of the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague. The Laboratory of Ethnobotany and Ethnopharmacology of which he is in charge, has a rich tradition in the research and development activities focused on biologically active natural products derived from underutilized tropical crops, especially from species used by native peoples in traditional folk medicinal systems. Professor Dimitra Hadjipavlou-Litina received her undergraduate training in Pharmacy at

Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece (1975-1979) and her PhD in Pharmacy at the same University. She conducted postdoctoral studies at California (supervisor Professor Corwin Hansch). Currently she is a full professor and a head at the School of Pharmacy.

Her research interests involve synthesis and biological studies and the use of Computational Chemistry in Drug Design and resulted in the publication of over 220 peer-reviewed articles over 5000 citations and h factor = 38. Currently is the Editor of Current Enzyme Inbibition, CEI and a member of Editorial Advisory Board of ‘Anti-Inflammatory & Anti-allergy Agents In Medicinal Chemistry’ published by Bentham Science Publishers.
