Ludovico Abenavoli

Ludovico Abenavoli is assistant professor in Gastroenterology at the University “Magna Græcia”, Catanzaro (Italy). Since 2015 he is inviting professor at the University of Novi Sad (Serbia). Between 2012 and 2015, he was board member of University Gastroenterology Education Committee (UNIGASTRO). Since 2013, he is a board member of Italian Society of Gastroenterology (S.I.G.E.). Ludovico Abenavoli is author of 140 publications in peer-reviewed international Journals. His main contributions include the study of alcoholic and non-alcoholic liver diseases, the relationship between insulin-resistance and chronic liver diseases, the evaluation of the Mediterranean diet effects, the epidemiology of liver diseases.

Dr Mario Masarone, graduated in Medicine and Surgery at the Second University of Naples in 2004, is a MD specialized in Internal Medicine. He obtained a doctorate (Ph.D.) in Biotechnologies in 2015. Actually is applied as a Post-doc Researcher at the Department of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Salerno (Italy). He has published at the time about 30 paper within the fields of Internal and Emergency Medicine and Hepatology. He is member of the Italian Association for the Study of the Liver (AISF) and European Association for the Study of the Liver (EASL).

Dr Alessandro Gozzetti gained his medical degree in 1993 and hematology fellowship in 1997 from Bologna University, Italy. He completed a PhD in oncology in 2001. He worked as research fellow 3 years at University of Chicago at the Molecular Cytogenetic Cancer Center lab. He gained National Scientific Abilitation as Associate Professor in Hematology in 2013. He is actually staff physician at the Division of Hematology of University of Siena, Italy. Dr Gozzetti is Director of the Multiple Myeloma program , CLL program and Hairy cell program and Director of the Molecular Cytogenetic Lab. He published over 130 papers in peer -reviewed Journals.

S. Mocellin

Prof. Simone Mocellin obtained his MD degree at the University of Padova, where he specialized in General Surgery in 1998 and he's got a PhD doctorate in Surgical Oncology in 2002. For two years (1999-2001) he worked at the Surgery Branch of the National Cancer Institute of Bethesda (Maryland, USA). Currently he works as consultant surgeon at the Surgical Oncology branch of the Istituto Oncologico Veneto (IOV-IRCCS) of Padova, Italy. He is also professor of surgery at the Dept. Surgery Oncology and Gastroenterology of the University of Padova, Italy. He is the author of more than 160 articles published in peer-review international medical journals. His main interest is surgical oncology with special regard to the surgical treatment and translational research in the fields of cutaneous melanoma, soft tissue sarcomas and gastrointestinal cancers.

Dr. Marshall Posner is Professor of Medicine, Medical Director of the Head and Neck Oncology Program, and Associate Director of the Center for Personalized Cancer Therapeutics at the Icahn School or Medicine at Mount Sinai, NY. He has published over 275 peer-reviewed basic laboratory and clinical studies and multiple reviews and abstracts. Dr. Posner has been the principal investigator on numerous clinical trials in head and neck cancer and has reported studies of immunotherapy in pemphigus, HIV, and nasopharynx cancer. He has a major interest in the immunobiology and therapeutics of Human Papillomavirus and oropharynx cancer.

Dr. Jasper Dingemanse is currently Vice President and Head Clinical Pharmacology at Actelion Pharmaceuticals Ltd, Switzerland. In this function he is responsible for the Phase I and early Phase II trials of a range of compounds covering a broad spectrum of therapeutic areas (cardiovasculars, central nervous system, infectiology, immunology, respiratory). Previous positions included functions as Senior Director at The Medicines Company and Group Leader in Clinical Pharmacology at F. Hoffmann-La Roche. In addition, Dr. Dingemanse gained experience as Scientific Director at two CROs. He is the author of approximately 250 peer-reviewed articles covering preclinical and clinical pharmacology studies in various fields.

Emidio Scarpellini has been Assistant Professor in Internal Medicine at the Sapienza University of Rome, Rome, Italy. He has published 49 papers, many involving gut microbiota modulation and GERD, and was a Rome III Foundation research fellow in Leuven, Belgium in 2009. He graduated as Phd in Physiopathology of metabolism and nutrition in 2013 at Catholic University of Sacred Heart, Rome, Italy and, in Biomedical Sciences in 2014 at KULeuven, Leuven, Belgium. He is a member of the American Gastroenterological Association, the Italian Society of Gastroenterology, and was an investigator on several recent trials investigating new drugs potentially affecting gut microbiota (e.g. antibiotics, probiotics use in functional gastrointestinal disorders), refractory GERD symptoms and reflux pathophysiology.

Pedro Cahn has been working in infectious diseases for the last 45 years and has been involved in the HIV/AIDS arena since 1982. He has served as Chief of Infectious Diseases at the Juan Fernandez Hospital, where he is now Senior Consultant. He is President of Fundación Huésped in Buenos Aires, the largest NGO in Argentina serving patients with and at risk of HIV/AIDS. Dr. Cahn is Professor of Infectious Diseases at the Buenos Aires University Medical School. He is also a Past-President of the International AIDS Society. He is also an external advisor for UNAIDS, the World Health Organization (WHO), the Pan-American Health Organization, UNITAID, Doctors without Borders, as well as a member of the antiretroviral guidelines panel both for WHO and a former member of the guidelines panel of the International Antiviral Society-USA. Ruby F. Meredith, MD, PhD is a Professor of Radiation Oncology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She is former Director of Research in that department, and a Senior Scientist at the University of Alabama at Birmingham Comprehensive Cancer Center. Her career includes basic science investigations and involvement in the conduct of scores of clinical trials, including 50 for targeted radionuclide therapy. I was born and educated in Warsaw, Poland where I obtained my medical, neurosurgical, doctoral degrees and postdoctoral award in the field of Neurosurgery from the Medical Research Center of Polish Academy of Sciences and the Jerzy and Krystyna Chorobski Fundation. In 1989 I joined the Surgical Neurology Branch, at the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, NIH first as International Fogarty Fellow and next as the Senior Researcher and Clinical Associate. In 2010 I joined JAMA Editorial Board as the Fishbein Fellow. In 2009 our patent “Nitrite for vascular diseases” got the “Deal of Distinction” Award. In 2013 I retired from the NIH. I presented near 120 lectures at national and international conferences, over 80 invited lectures at the universities and conferences and published over 120 articles in the leading medical journals.
