Oswaldo L.Alves

Alves is professor, Inst. of Chemistry, State University of Campinas (Unicamp). He obtained his BSc (1974) and PhD (1977). He did postdoctoral work at Laboratory of Infrared and Raman Spectrochemistry of CNRS (France). His research on Raman spectroscopy, solid state chemistry and special glasses for optoelectronics later diversified into nanomaterials synthesis and their interactions with biosystems. He has advised over 50 PhD and MS theses. He has published over 230 peer-reviewed papers, and has been issued 30 patents. He served as President of Brazilian Chemical Society. His honours include: Brazilian Order for Scientific Merit (2002); Technology Innovation Award (2008); Inventor Award - Technology Absorbed by the Market (2011); Fellow of Royal Society of Chemistry (2015). He is member of Brazilian Academy of Sciences, Academy of Sciences of São Paulo State and The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS).

Professor Hong received his Ph.D in Mechanical Engineering from Imperial College, London, U.K. in 1987. He is currently in charge of the Green Energy/Quantum Engineering Lab, and Intelligent Green Vehicle Lab in the Power Mechanical Engineering Department, National Tsing Hua University in Taiwan. His research area includes molecular engineering, fuel cell engineering, solar cell/LED, combustion engines, automotive engineering, and bio-photonics which are all based on academic fundamentals of Quantum Mechanics, Molecular Dynamics, Boltzmann Modeling, Computational Fluid Dynamics, and System Dynamics. Apart from academic researches, he has been actively conducting researches with motor companies and various research institutes. He was the general chairman of the AVEC 2006 and APEnergy2016, and organizers/co-organizers of various international conferences. Currently, he serves as a scientific committee member and editors for many organizations and academic journals.

Bernd Wicklein got his MSc. in Materials Science from Stuttgart University (Germany) in 2007 and his Doctoral Degree from the Autonomous University of Madrid (Spain) in 2011. From 2012-2014 he held a postdoctoral position in Prof. Bergström’s group at Stockholm University working on nanocellulose based hybrid and composite materials. In 2014 he has joined Prof. Ruiz-Hitzky’s group at the Materials Science Institute of Madrid to work on nanocellulosic materials for functional and biomedical applications.

Y.J. Zhu

Ying-Jie Zhu is a full Professor at Shanghai Institute of Ceramics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). He received Master degree and Ph. D. from University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) in 1992 and 1994, respectively. He worked as an Assistant Professor and Associate Professor at USTC from 1994 to 1997. From 1997 to 1998 he worked as a Visiting Professor at University of Western Ontario, Canada. From 1998 to 1999 he worked as an Alexander von Humboldt Research Fellow at Fritz-Haber Institut der Max-Planck-Gesellschaft, Germany. He then was a Postdoctoral Fellow at University of Utah and University of Delaware, USA, from 1999 to 2002. In 2002, he was selected by CAS under the Program for Recruiting Overseas Outstanding Talents (Hundred Talents Program). In 2007, he was selected under the Program of Outstanding Leader of Shanghai Subject Chief Scientist. He has published about 280 peer-reviewed journal papers and three book chapters. His papers have been cited about 8400 times. He is an inventor of 40 granted patents.

Dr. Tapas Kr. Bandyopadhyay has completed Ph.D in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur(IIT-Kharagpur). He has been presently working as Assistant Professor at IIT-Kharagpur. He worked with Indian Patent Office and NTPC Ltd before joining IIT-Kharagpur. He has published more than 22 papers in referred journal. He has two Indian Patent (One granted, One applied). He has authored a book on Intellectual Property Right. His research areas of interest include technology-law interface, policy, physical metallurgy of steel etc.

M. Henini

Mohamed Henini obtained his first degree at the University of Oran, Algeria. He went to Nottingham University and was awarded the PhD degree in 1984. Mohamed has over 25 years of experience in Molecular Beam Epitaxy (MBE) growth. His particular speciality is the physics and technology of MBE growth for III-V electronic and optoelectronic devices. He has authored and co-authored over 800 papers in international journals and conference proceedings. He has an h-index of 45.

He is the founder of two international conferences namely, Low Dimensional Structures and Devices (LDSD) and Epitaxial Semiconductors on Patterned Substrates and Novel Index Surfaces (ESPS-NIS). He edited five books which were published by Elsevier and serves on the Editorial Board of several scientific journals.

Dai Jiyan is currently a Professor of the Department of Applied Physics at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Prof. Dai’s main research interests include nanomaterials fabrication and application, especially functional oxide thin films and devices. He received his B.Sc. degree in physics from Fudan University in 1988, his M.S. degree in Electronic Engineering from Tsinghua University in 1991, and his Ph.D. degree in Materials Physics from the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1994. He has three years research experience at Northwestern University as a Research Associate, and after one year working in the Institute of Materials Research and Engineering Singapore, he joined Chartered Semiconductor Manufacturing Ltd. of Singapore in failure analysis. Since 2001, Prof. Dai has been working at the Department of Applied Physics, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

Dr. Luciano Paulino Silva is biologist and obtained a Ph.D. degree in Animal Biology from the University of Brasilia. Jumras Limtrakul is currently President of the Vidyasirimedhi Institute of Science and Technology. After earning his Ph.D. at Innsbruck in 1984, Dr. Limtrakul spent a couple of years doing research at the Institute of Physical Chemistry and Electrochemistry at Karlsruhe University in Germany, and then carried out his research on nanotechnology as a Visiting Professor at the University of Bordeaux, France.

He is the recipient of many honors and awards, including the Alexander von Humboldt Research Fellow, Germany, National Outstanding Researcher Award (1998), Thailand Outstanding Scientist Award (2003), NSTDA Chair Professor (2009), and National Outstanding Person of the Year (2010). His research interests are molecular engineering based on theoretical and experimental study for energy materials.
