LIU is currently a professor at Lanzhou University (China). He received his BEng degree from Northwestern Polytechnical University (China) in 1996 and PhD degree from Lanzhou University in 2001. He was a postdoctoral researcher in Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics, CAS from 2001 to 2003 and visiting professor in Akita Prefectural University (Japan) from 2011 to 2012. Dr. Varma obtained his Ph.D. from Delhi University in 1976. After postdoctoral positions at Robert Robinson Laboratories, University of Liverpool, UK, he was a faculty member at Baylor College of Medicine, Senior Scientist at Houston Advanced Research Center, and Research Professor at Sam Houston State University prior to joining as senior scientist in the Sustainable Technology Division at US Environmental Protection Agency in 1999. Peter Majewski

Prof Majewski obtained his doctorate (PhD) in Mineralogy from the Leibniz University of Hannover, Germany. Subsequently, he was working at the Max-Planck-Institute for Metals Research. In 2003, Prof Majewski joined the University of South Australia where he held positions of research professor and Head of School of Engineering. Dr. Yoke Khin Yap earned his Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from Osaka University, Japan. He is a professor of physics, and the director of applied physics program at Michigan Technological University (MTU). Dr. Yap was a Monbusho scholar for his Ph.D program, a Fellow of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) during his postdoctoral tenure, and a recipient of the U.S. National Science Foundation CAREER Award. In 2015 Dr. Yap is honored as an Osaka University Global Alumni Fellow. Dr. Yap has published a series book and encyclopedia chapters in the area of nanoscale materials, organized a series of symposia in the Materials Research Society Meetings, and served as an advisory board member in conferences and journals.

Professor Traian V. Chirila is currently the Chief Scientist of Queensland Eye Institute in Brisbane, Australia, and holds honorary professorships at three Australian universities. He has established the first laboratory in Australia for research in ophthalmic biomaterials and tissue engineering. A particularly significant outcome of his work is the use in clinical practice of the artificial cornea AlphaCor™ and ocular socket implant AlphaShere™, both developed by him. Reshef Tenne earned his Ph.D. in 1976 in the Hebrew University. He joined the Weizmann Institute in 1979, where he was promoted to a professor in 1995. He reported the first synthesis of inorganic nanotubes and fullerene-like nanoparticles of WS2 (Nature 1992). Among his numerous recognitions are the MRS Medal; the Gold Medal of the Isr. Chem. Upon completion of his doctorate in chemistry at The University of Tokyo in 1995 Dr. Yan joined the R&D group at Ibaraki Research Laboratory, Hitachi Chemical Industry Co. Ltd. where he carried out research works to develop sophisticated electronic components by utilizing functional polymers. After his research works on conductive polymers at Tokyo University of Science, Yamaguchi for 6 years and on polymer gels at Hokkaido University for 3 years, Dr. Yan joined the Laboratory of Organic Robotics at the University of Yamanashi in 2007 where he is an Associate Professor. Dr. Yan who is a full professor of Zhengzhou University since 2011 has published 13 books, 88 papers, and 33 patents.

Robert B. Heimann is professor emeritus of applied mineralogy and materials science. He obtained his academic degrees from FU Berlin in 1963 (M.Sc.) and 1966 (Ph.D.), and subsequently served as a faculty member at FU Berlin (1966-1977) and Universität Karlsruhe (1977-1979). From 1979 on he worked in Canada as a research associate (McMaster University; 1979-1981), visiting professor (University of Toronto; 1979-1981), staff geochemist (Atomic Energy of Canada Limited, 1982-1986), and research manager (Alberta Research Council, Edmonton; 1987-1993). From 1993 to 2004, he was a full professor at Technische Universität Bergakademie Freiberg in Germany. He has authored and coauthored about 300 scientific publications including six books and several book chapters. In 1992, he received the Distinguished Service Award of the Canadian University-Industry Council of Advanced Ceramics, CUICAC, and in 2001 the Georgius-Agricola-Medal of the German Mineralogical Society (DMG) for his lifelong achievements in applied mineralogy. Research activities and interests are in advanced ceramics, single crystal growth, thermal spraying of environmental and biomedical coatings, as well as archaeometallurgy and archaeoceramics.

Dr. Anastasios I. Zouboulis is (Full) Professor of Chemical & Environmental Technology, Department of Chemistry, Aristotle University, Thessaloniki (GR) since 2007. He is performing research in the field of water and wastewater treatment technologies, including Environmental Biotechnology, wastewater management, reclamation and reuse, as well as in industrial toxic solid wastes stabilization and/or recovery/reuse. He is author/co-author of more than 200 papers, published in refereed scientific journals, and of more than 150 papers published in the Proceedings of National & International conferences, attracting more than 6000 citations (current Scopus H-factor: 47). He has supervised 12 Ph.D. and 18 M.Sc. Theses and more than 70 Diploma theses. He has participated in more than 70 national and international research and demonstration projects, funded by E.U. and from local sources (ministries, industries, companies etc.), while he was Scientific Responsible in more than 50 of them, related his scientific interests. His international reputation was recognised by his election as (foreign) member in the Russian Academy of Sciences (since 2003). Professor Dalai holds a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Saskatchewan where he is currently employed as a Full Professor and Canada Research Chair in Bioenergy and Environmentally Friendly Chemical Processing. His research focus is the novel catalyst development for gas to liquid (GTL) technologies, biodiesel production, hydrogen/syngas production, hydroprocessing of gas oil, and value added products from biomass. Dr. Dalai holds several patents and has published over 300 research papers mostly in heterogeneous catalysis and catalytic processes in international journals and conference proceedings. His ground-breaking research in environmentally-friendly processing and the conversion of bio-mass to bio-energy have made him highly sought after as a guest lecturer/speaker at many National and International conferences.
