Davide Prosperi

Prof. Davide Prosperi is Associate Professor in Biochemistry at the University of Milano Bicocca (Unimib), Department of Biotechnology and Bioscience. Head of the NanoBioLab of Unimib, he is devoted to biomedical and biophysical applications of nanotechnology. In particular, the research activity of Davide Prosperi involves the design, synthesis, functionalization and characterization of colloidal, polymeric and biomimetic nanoparticles for biomedical applications, with particular focus on the diagnosis and treatment of cancer and inflammatory diseases. He is author of over 100 scientific publications. He is one of the author of the patent “Nanoconstructs with pharmacological activity” (n° WO2014013473-A1), and co-founder of the spin-off company inTHEna srl, aiming to design and development of molecules, nanostructures and technologies for biomedical studies and diagnosis, prevention and therapy of human and animal diseases.

Nan Mei

Dr. Nan Mei is a Research Biologist in the Division of Genetic and Molecular Toxicology at the U.S. FDA’s National Center for Toxicological Research (NCTR). He received his M.D. from Hebei Medical University (China) in 1984 and Ph.D. from the University of Occupational and Environmental Health (Japan) in 1997. His completed and on-going projects include the evaluation of the mutagenic effects of direct mutagens, herbal dietary supplements, industrial compounds, nanoparticles, ingredients in cosmetics and other retail products, and tobacco products. Dr. Mei has published 87 peer-reviewed research articles in prestigious journals and 13 book chapters. He has also served as a member of 8 journal editorial boards.

Vladimir P. Torchilin

Vladimir P. Torchilin, Ph.D., D.Sc. is a University Distinguished Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Director, Center for Pharmaceutical Biotechnology and Nanomedicine, Northeastern University, Boston. His interests include drug delivery and targeting, nanomedicine, multifunctional and stimuli-sensitive pharmaceutical nanocarriers, biomedical polymers, experimental cancer therapy. He has published more than 400 original papers, more than 150 reviews and book chapters, wrote and edited 12 books, and holds more than 40 patents. Google Scholar shows more than 44,000 citations of his papers with H-index of 96. He is Editor-in-Chief of Current Drug Discovery Technologies, Drug Delivery, and OpenNano, Co-Editor of Current Pharmaceutical Biotechnology and on the Editorial Boards of many other journals. He received more than $30 M from the governmental and industrial sources in research funding. He has multiple honors and awards and in 2011, Times Higher Education ranked him number 2 among top world scientists in pharmacology for the period of 2000-2010.

Professor Michael K. Danquah is a Fellow of the Institution of Chemical Engineers. He is a Full Professor in Chemical Engineering, Curtin University. Martin Federico Desimone was born in 1974 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He graduated from Pharmacy and Biochemistry at University of Buenos Aires and received his Ph.D. degree from the same University. After a postdoctoral period in the University of the Basque Country, Spain, he joined in 2008, the Laboratoire Chimie de la Matiére Condensée de Paris. Actually, he is a CONICET researcher and holds a Full Professor position at the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Jonathan Engle is an accelerator physics and radiochemist specializing in radionuclide production for medical applications. His efforts focus on the formation of novel radionuclides, their isolation from cyclotron target materials, and their use in positron emission tomography imaging, basic science research, and industrial applications. He is the recipient of a 2017 Department of Energy Early Career Award to study the formation of novel radionuclides using vast spallation neutrons. Other current projects focus on the application of radiomanganese in tracking functional pancreatic beta cell mass and the use of Auger-emitting radionuclides for therapeutic treatment of human disease.

Alexander M. Klibanov

Alexander Klibanov received his M.S. in Chemistry and Ph.D. in Chemical Enzymology both from Moscow University in Russia. Following his immigration to the United States in 1977, he spent 1.5 years as a postdoctoral associate in the Department of Chemistry at the University of California, San Diego, before joining the faculty at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) where he is currently an Endowed-Chaired Professor of Chemistry and Bioengineering. His current research interests include medicinal chemistry, new antimicrobial materials; enzyme chemistry and biotechnology; and pharmaceutical formulations. He has authored over 310 scientific papers and 21 issued U.S. patents (plus many pending), has given over 370 invited presentations, including many named lectures all over the world, and is a member of 12 journal editorial boards. Dr. Klibanov has received numerous prestigious professional awards, including the Leo Friend Award, the Ipatieff Prize, the Marvin J. Johnson Award, and the Arthur C. Cope Scholar Award, all from the American Chemical Society, as well as the International Enzyme Engineering Prize. He was elected both to the National Academy of Sciences and to the National Academy of Engineering of the United States. Dr. Klibanov has started six pharmaceutical companies and has been a scientific advisor, consultant, and/or director for numerous pharmaceutical, medical device, and biotechnology companies.

Prof. Peng Huang received his PhD in Biomedical Engineering from the Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2012.
