My research projects deal with the clinical pharmacology of drugs and the clinical measurement of the drugs’ effect. My principal interest is the mathematical interpretation of clinical pharmacokinetics (PK) and pharmacodynamics (PD). I study both new and old drugs (1) to gain a better understanding of their metabolism, distribution, and elimination from the body, and (2) to determine methods for correlating drug concentrations in the body with drug action. The results can be extrapolated to develop better dosing and treatment guidelines for other physicians.
