Fabrication of Periodic Ag Nanocone Arrays by Nanosphere Lithography

In this letter, we report a novel method to fabricate Ag periodic nanocone arrays by a two-step process. Firstly Au nano triangle-pyramid array structures were made by nanosphere lithography. Then Ag film was deposited on the Au structures. During the deposition, Ag nanostructures were forming to different patterns: at first nanodots, then nanorings, finally to nanocones. The novel nanocone structures may have great potential applications for biomolecule detection based on surface enhanced Raman scattering or localized surface plasmon resonance sensing.
